While NWN2 is coming out at the end of this year, I can't stop thinking about what's gonna happen to this module.
Some hope that EfU will make the jump to the sequel, but we all should know that this will take a long time, partly because there will be a window where a learning curve of the new toolset is laid out.
My biggest concern is will this version of EfU continue to be around after the launch of NWN2? Or are the DM's planning some ultimate plot that will eventually end the existence of Sanctuary as NWN2 is launched?
In light of the theoretical (and totally hypothetical) ending of the module, I wish I had joined sooner as it has to be one of the better online experiences I've had.

Correct me if I'm wrong please,
According to discussions had about this on IRC, the EfU will likely continue to be active even after NWN2 is released. The decision to port will only be made after the release of NWN2, depending on the demand.

it won't end with nwn 2's launch. I'd also point out this server is only like 7 months old (I think thats even including beta)

The server is about 11 months old now. And I have a feeling plenty of people will still be playing, especially with renewed interest in NWN.

NWN2 will *increase* sales of the original game and get us new players.
Except another re-release of NWN: Super Uber Platinum around the time NWN2 comes out.

I expect EFU will remain until the technology and NWN2 allow us to make a PW, because we're told that PWs will be nearly impossible on NWN2 as of now.
Though I personally will be DM'ing a lot of one-shot adventures (fun!), I will remain with EFU, the best online roleplaying environment today. :P

yeah I asked in IRC a few days back... perhaps colin was there. But the DMs don't think PWs are supported in the initial release of NWN2 anyway.
So joyfully I can keep playing EFU and save my 5c coins for buying NWN2 after it gets cheaper.

Besides, there might not even be a DM client for NWN2.

If I was a DM having spent untold hours customizing EfU, squashing bugs and concocting unique items into the wee hours of the morning, I'd shoot someone who'd suggest we'd -just- do it all over again..
But that's just me.

I guess my other concern would be if the DM staff, who are as much gamers as the rest of us are, would be as available as they have been once NWN2 is released. Most of us are probably going to rip open the box on release and give up basic needs (food, water, employment) in our frenzy to get through the entire story of the new game.
I know what when I got NWN, I used virtually ALL my free time playing it because I was so immersed in it.
I just am afraid for those who can't upgrade their PC's to play the sequel and will be wanting EfU to stay the same level of quality that they might suffer should the DM's 'jump ship' and use a significant amount of time playing the new game.
Granted, we don't pay for this, nor do any of us have any right to demand that the DM' staff do anything at all, (all good things DO come to an end at some point), I guess I just hope the quality of the mod will be kept up until a succesfull (and supported) jump to the new platform can be developed.

We'll use whatever game is the best for our purpose, something that can not be evaluated at this time. My prediction, though, is that we'll be with NWN 1 for quite a while longer.

I know, I heard that there is no mac version of NWN2 at this time which I think is total crap.

thats good to know Howland *cue everyone to donate 20$ to EfU* as i said im sticking with EfU for aslong as i find it enjoyable (practally indefinatly due to the huge contrasts of players charactors and their attitude not to mention my inability to stop making new charactor concepts) i hope that one day EfU makes the jump to NWN2 as the graphical engine would allow for a bit more imersion (not that its a problem but you try trying to rember that the pixilated face accross the room is horribly scar'd and disfigured and that the one next to it is a beautiful elven lass bearly in her hundreth year when you have been playing for 10+ hours straight through the middle of the night and well into the morning lol)
