There are several people I'd like to thank for making the Ball a success.
First off, I wanted to let every one know that I wanted this to be as DM free as possible: a totaly player driven event...or as close to it as I could get.
Second, I'd like to thank the following DM's for their offer to help/support/script/arrange things with me:
Howland For running the event when Thrawn was unavailable and adding the placeables (tables, chairs, rugs)
Thrawn For championing this idea when I first came up with it. he helped me hammer out the early details
Arkov For scripting the 'special needs items' like the donation bowl, bartender and special effects decorations.
NC For making sure that the server was reset in time for the event to kick off on time Song of Orpheus For offering to help run the event should Howland, Thrawn or Arkov be unavailable to do so.
I mean how many servers of ANY online game or server have we played on that have had such a great back up plan for the player community in the way of DM's, Moderators, or Tech support.
*claps loudly for the DMs*
For those of you who don't know, I've never played PnP D&D. My first D&D experience was through NWN. So this time I got a chance to feel like a DM in a way, so it was very exciting for me.
And it couldn't have been a success without the players also being behind the idea. Right before it started, I remember runing to the bank and shouting that it would start in 15 minutes. When I came back from the bank, people I said it to, were like "perhaps we should buy some nice clothes". That was cool because the responded positively.
So thanks to all those who came, good, evil, and even our mysterious guest who slimed us all and flooded the entire townhal wiith oozes and floating sewage.
Special in-game thanks go to the people who play the following characters:
Gloinar Linda Frubo Herod Hennrick
They helped out IG set things up and get the word out.
But over all I would like the server community to know that I appreciate having a successful event and hopefully more DM-free things like this can happen again.
*all smiles, claps for the EFU player-base*
