//actually, assuming EST is still on daylight savings, (EDT) then its GMT -4, which makes 8pm EDT = Midnight GMT. which is 10am on friday morning for me.

Nope. Central time is -5 GMT right now. I know because I live in CST, my forum time is set at -5 GMT, and at the moment of this posting, the time on my computer and the time of this post are the same.
