Research on Purple Crystals, by Philip Meet

I am starting to have a good amount of purple crystals, however the more I collect the better.

After the events in the mine, I have taken a good look at myself; several shards can be found on my body. Although I do feel them, they do not pain me -however, I still am unaware of the side-effects.

The explosion released healing energy from the crystal, I suspect them to be similar to the spells, and thus I will require some information on them. With this, I might be able to determine an important factor in their growth.

Sergeant Marshall also came with a slightly more fantastic theory on their growth; a counterbalance the evil present in the Underdark.

I do believe that if I can dissolve many small crystals, I can make bigger ones with time; to hasten the process, I would however need to turn them into powder, and find a suitable solvent, if water is not.

I've also in my possession a large crystal, the biggest seen that I know. I intend it to be the root of growth of other crystals... if I can find a place.

The crystals embedded in my skin seem glow softly when I am injured, however nothing else happened.

Purple crystals are known for their curative powers; in fact, the bigger they are, the stronger the healing provided; Pywen explained to me that curative spells are done by channeling positive energy, and any kind of energy can be found naturally.

I theorize that an element required for their growth is the presence of positive energy in the structure and around. Perhaps providing positive energy to the crystals will hasten the growth process, all I require is to learn how to do it.

It appears incredible, but I can tap into the power of the shards to heal wounds. I am somewhat unsure of how it works, but if I can improve their capacity, it would help to tend to wounds on the field.

I finally bought a pestle and mortar; I intend to use it to make dust. Hopefully I will be able to make bigger ones out of the small one. I've yet to find a place to start putting them.

If the healing powers are proportionaly to the size, the dust would only heal partial injuries; however, I theorize that, injected in considerable quantity in the body, they would mix with the blood. In doing so, they could heal small injuries, slowly, as the blood flows, and treat toxins, rendering them useless.

The Four Theories on Growth & Experiments to be done

Positive Creationism

This theory is based on the possibility that positive energies can be found in the wild; positive energy has the potential to heal. This energy in a reaction, would accumulate at a specific location, creating a solid version, the purple crystal.

Flaw: What is required to make a new crystal?

Experiment: If it is indeed true, then increasing the concentration of positive energy in its environment should, in fact, improve the growth.

Thus, a healing spell should be cast regularly on a shard, and note any difference after a while.

Positive Alterism

This theory is similar to Positive Creationism, however the main difference is that positive energy does not create a crystal, but rather changes a specific crystal into a purple crystal.

Flaw: What is the base crystal?

Experiment: A gathering of several crystals, each force-fed with positive energy and note any differences.

Plant Theory

Purple crystals act like plants; they require soil and water. They do not breathe, they do not move, and they do not interact.

Flaw: How do they reproduce?

Experiment: Planting a purple crystal and treating it like a plant. Note any differences.

Balance Theory

A more fantastic theory, but possible in this world of magic. The Underdark is known for great evil. To balance it, those crystals grow, as they can be tools of good.

Flaw: Good and Evil can be subjective.

Experiment: Set a crystal in an environment of reknown goodness, and note any differences.

Favorable Environment for Improved Growth

A favorable environment for Purple Crystals should be at a conjunction of ley-lines (lines of earth magic, unseen to the untrained eyes as mine), where the earth magic is more powerful. Those conjunctions can be noted by crystals, similar to Grizabella's and Dorthoyrra's caves.

Furthermore, to avoid corruption, the farm -if we can indeed call it a farm- should be establish outside of Sanctuary.

Ley-lines

Little I know about ley-lines, other than they are lines of earth magic. Druids might be able to draw from such, and when lines of magic coincide, a crystal might grow, allowing for more power to be drawn. Grizabella claims the purple crystals are more likely to grow near those.

Furthermore, Evelyn told of a myth on how one can see the ley-lines. One would need to know all magic, and be a druid. I suggested a rather silly idea -several individuals to act as one, but Dorthoyrra might be able to grant the boon if I help her enough.

Failed Experiment

A fire, fed of fungi, magic scroll and purple crystal dust, resulted in fumes, knocking me out.

A strangest dream, a scary one, with feys, and teeth, tearing through my flesh. A figure, coming to me... but I woke up.

The fire, in the fire, it called to me. I came out of the fire. Well, a reflexion of me. But with my brother's attitude. It vanished after others came.

A spider, claimed to be Evelyn's sister, disappeared shortly.

A mob, screaming at her.

A doppleganger, trying to get inside Evelyn.

Visions. Inhaling is not the solution to unite with purple crystal -and should avoided. Ugh. Headache.

Mage Eaters attach themselves to purple crystals to heal themselves, like any beings.

However, upon finding a large one, which shattered due to the above mentionned creatures, a vein was found. Although casting minor healing spells were inconclusive, greater spells might be effective.

Furthermore, that might support the theory that purple crystals are in fact like trees.

Amothiewen and I had a discussion.

She told me about 'Purple Crystal Weed'; a name I find slightly insulting to its nature, delicate it would seem. I must find some.
