The remnants of a bandit camp are found just past the canal gates.

The severed heads of four bandits are mounted on their own weapons which are lodged within crevices of stone. Only one head bears any obvious wounds, the side of it caved in from a single powerful blow.

The bodies of the bandits are located nearby, each bears a single slash through the heart save the fourth which is badly bludgeoned with broken bones stuck at strange angles.

A dagger through the forehead of the largest bandit pins a note written in the bandits own blood.

A skilled tracker may notice that at least one badly bloodied bandit escaped the slaughter.
