Following my previous question about stealthing and detection, here is my next one. What is the DM policy regarding paladin's detect evil power and invisible/stealthing characters : Can a paladin positively notice there is a presence nearby by using his detect evil? Can he even identify the nature of the presence, as in, giving any details about the character who is there other than the fact that he is invisible?

These questions arise following a confusing situation when us players weren't sure if detecting stealth by using detec evil is legit or metagaming.

Yes, you can sense evil in the vicinity like normal, even if someone is physically hidden.

Detect evil never gives details about a person, so it doesn't here either.
