I just wanted to get feedback on what the community would think about having a Sanctuary Ball. Everyone gets all dressed up nice and comes to dance and drink and so on!
It'd be an event that was totally hack 'n slash free but also a nice change of pace.
Tarnis (my character) has ICly already started this idea by getting the councilors to let us use part of town hall for it, but how many people would like to come to this event?
Just getting an idea so the DM's know of how many to expect and so on.
Watch the Sanctuary Public Notices area of the forums for things relating to it as Tarnis goes about posting flyers and so on.

I like it, I think it's a very nice idea that will open the way for many other plots and different ideas. It also gives bards something to do and an outlet for their creativity

I would love an event like this immensely, and would definitely come.
We can do the "Lion's Claw" salute to Ivandur Reynolt, then party on with the "Unicorn's Grace" dance-off. It'll be a hoot. Plus, lots of free Bloodwine. Oooh, yes. And the chance to score to interact wth some cute female PCs... this sounds amazing.
I thank you so much for suggesting it, and hope everyone agrees that it is incredibly awesome!

I would come, if it gets organised on this week latest on Thursday.
Altough as Najara used to smile around it is not sure that there will be no hack&slash between her admirers. :D

Any kind of halfling loving is strictly forbidden in accordance with the recent laws put up in order to reduce the local halfling population.

Well I sent Howland a forum message asking how long it would take to build (reconfigure) the area needed to do this so I'm waiting to hear back from him as to an ETA when I have it. But in the meantime, ICly, check out the public notices area for the Bard poster and others soon to come to keep up on it.

That's not a bad idea. But the part about it not having action, hack'n'slash... where's the fun in that? Put the Watch and Tigereyes in the same room and there's going to be a fight. And that's a good thing.
Ballroom dance turned Ballroom brawl.

Perhaps the House of Light Clerics should act as the Paramedics in the event that a "Ballroom Blitz" Breaks out :D

I have to admit, I'm not liking this idea all too much. I can't exactly pinpoint it, but it might simply be because I don't find that the setting really warrants something like this. It's too... 'happy.'
I admire your initiative, mind you, and I do think you should go on with the idea. I'm just not personally supporting it.
My 2 cents. :)

Well you're entitled to your opinion of course, but I see the ball as a attempt, especially by people that may have known a better life on the surface, to make things a little better in Sanctuary. To remind them of the good times, and show those others that there are better things in life than just the dreary drudge of life just surviving.
So in that sense, to me it fits perfectly with the setting. And who says it will be a happy event anyway??

I'm not sure whether this discussion has taken place IG already, but I'd encourage those interested in seeing it happen In Character to take it there. I can't speak with the authority of a DM, but it just seems silly to talk about all the 'possible character reactions' to an event that is being discussed on the OOC boards.
If this is already being discussed IC, kudos. The worst thing that can happen to a new idea is for it to be shot down.

If you read the public notices area you'd noitice that I've already made two posters and have recruited two people IG to help spread teh word of the date and location.
Trust me, it's all good. I just wanted to find out if anyone would show up for it.

If this event can take place on a Sunday then you stand a good chance of getting some of the Aussies and other people in the non standard timezones to make it along.
Cheers

I agree most of the details should be handled in game but some of the mechanics need to be handled out of game if you want as many peopel to be able to make it as possible - The time when a lof odf these events go off tend to be during working hours for peopel in your GMT +6 - GMT + 12 timezones - get the final times nailed down and everyone who can attend and participate can deal witht he details in game.
Otherwise you have a lot of peopel helping who have to pull the pin becuase they can't make it.
