Try not to overplay Oblivion all at once. As fun as it is it can get a bit repetitive if you take it all in at once.

Additionally I would highly recommend this mod, Theivery in the Imperial City if you're playing a theif. It adds a new shop, quests and NPCs with a full voiceset. The best mod I've seen so far. My only complaint is that the last quest is ridicolously hard. I can't see how anyone can finish it without peeking at the walkthrough.
