Good Wizard Eredian,
First I thank you for your timely and very well applied use of your magical skills the other day for the matter with the children. I have no doubt that without your magics we would have perished. With that said, I hope that the surgical scar that was made by my dagger is healing well and giving you no trouble. After you fell it was necessary for me to quickly stem the flow of blood from your wounds, as it had appeared as if the creature had been attempting to gain access to your vital organs.
That said, I believe I have found a book that would be better in your hands than mine--a spell book of sorts, or atleast that is what I with my limited knowledge of things arcane can deduce it is. Perhaps we can meet and discuss it, and a few other thigns that have come to mind while thinking on recent events, and especially on the diary that was found. I am currently staying at the Rock Bottom Inn, and any correspondance can be directed to me there.
May the Dawn shine on you,
Graylen Haynes,

Esteemed Mr. Haynes,
First of all, it is I who should thank you; Had it not been for your timely and very accurate knifework, I would most likely be the chief ingredient in some foul, interplanar soup by now, instead of sitting in a comfortable chair and penning this letter. I must also commend on your bravery, you who stood and fought even against the most overwhelming of odds. I feel it would be fitting with an apology for my behaviour at the time; I did not mean to escape, but merely to withdraw and gather backup, as I did not think highly of our chance of survival at the time. But thanks to your spirit and overwhelming courage, somehow we made it through.
On a lighter note, I would certainly like to meet with you as soon as the opportunity presents itself. This book you mention seems highly curious, and I am also interested in discussing the sorrowful events of yesterday. Regarding the journal, I took the liberty to send it together with my letter to the Spellguard, since they, I believe, can get more out of the actual book, but I have of course copied it beforehand. One thing that might pose a bit of a problem is that the journal seems to be written in Svirfneblin. I do think I can get around this by magical means, however, so I do not think we will have to worry too much about it.
I look forward to meeting you soon. Best regards,
Eredian ap-Maermarryn
