Ravenloft - A Requiem For Jander

I've convinced my friend Poetic Colossus to run his excellent one-shot module for some of us EFU folks. We're thinking this thursday at around 7 PDT. I'll convert that to GMT later, I'm lazy. It's a very well done mod set in the Ravenloft world, and PC is a great DM. Send me a PM if you're interested in playing.

requires CEP? I saw pipes in a screeny...

Yeah, it does, but doesn't everyone have that by now?

OC - Since I'll be dm'ing this one solo, I was thinking my one shot series might a better call (plus shorter amount of time to run). Only catch is that they'll have to download CEP if they don't already have it and thye'll need the Mirador hak as well, at :

Here is the synopsis of the one-shot series...basically, it's a classic "call for adventurers". Your hastily-assembled party gets to choose which task they would like to complete. Greater the danger, greater the reward. Dungeons and Dragons goodness and I even stole some of your uber-cool areas to put in there as well!

Tasks are listed below...

A weathered and yellowed leaf of parchment, its length taking it nearly to the floor reads:

Hear ye, O great and noble adventurers of the land!

The gracious and salubrious host that is the Council of the Magistrates offers ye the chance for riches, fame and glory!

The following tasks are in need of pursuance – Cain Lethellon, Council representative, can confirm whether or not a task has been previously completed or assigned.

Thy tasks of champions vary in difficulty, alas with the amount of commensurate reward - Pick wisely and may the gods be with ye!

TASK #1

- Citadel Adbarr and its dwarves are nervous about an excavation site recently uncovered by their mining – the stink of necromancy has the dwarves going nowhere near the site. Some say that the dwarves have accidentally discovered a long lost Drow house – now haunted by the spirits of its previous inhabitants, including its former matron mother. Discover what lies beneath the excavation site, and eliminate any and all threats found, assuring the dwarves of the Council’s friendship.

Reward: 13, 000 gold, in addition, whatever artifacts you may find in the excavation site which could prove to be very profitable.

TASK #2

- A population of giant ants has taken root in a forest nearby the town of Riverthrow, a small village not far from here. One of Riverthrow’s citizens has been reported missing, last seen near the Giant Ant hive. Make contact with Renton, Riverthrow’s wizard – then enter the hive, eliminate all of the ants and if possible, find Riverthrow’s missing citizen, dead or alive. Be wary of interference from local druids!

Reward: 6000 gold, and a magical golem companion for each party member! 2000 gold bonus if the citizen is found.

TASK #3

- On the outskirts of fabled Myth Drannor, past the swampy confines of the Drowning Wood and its lizardman tribe, rumors of a noble Baelnorn that keeps watch over a long-abandoned elven stronghold, continue to persist. The Baelnorn is said to guard a weapon sacred to the Church of Lathander – a magical blade blessed by the Morninglord himself. Make your way past the lizardmen, defeat any creatures lurking in the vicinity of the Ruins, and make contact with the Baelnorn. Verify its presence within the ruins somehow – if possible, retrieve the sacred blade for the Church of Lathander. One member of the party must be a follower of Lathander!

Reward: 5000 gold for proof of the Baelnorn’s existence and a specially crafted “Ring of Heroes” for every party member – the “Ring of Heroes” confers an armor bonus and grants a small radius of blue light. An additional 15,000 gold if the sacred blade is brought back.

TASK # 4 - An Oghman scholar, who’s also a friend of the Council, has a made a desperate plea for help. While researching a long forgotten stronghold that once belonged to the Cult of the Dragon, the Oghmans unwittingly reactivated a portal in the crypt stronghold that leads to the icy retreat of a young adult white dragon, “Frostbite”. It appears that the Cult once used the portal as a way to make entreaties to Frostbite, in hopes that the beast would eventually submit to the dark ritual of lichdom. Now that the portal has been reactivated, the Cult of the Dragon has been engaged in skirmishes with the Oghmans in attempting to recapture the portal for their own pursuits.

Glory is yours! Make your way to the crypt, dispatch the Cultist forces and put an end to white dragon Frostbite, before the authorities of Elturel can investigate. Make contact with the Oghman Loremaster at the Whistling Stag Inn in Elturel for more information.

Reward: 20, 000 gold and in addition - Magin Sunspell, a leading member of the Council and friend to the Oghmans, has graciously offered a prized artifact that will cast “Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Mansion”, a veritable extradimensional dwelling, once a day, as a reward for successfully assisting the Oghmans.

outcrowd1 Yeah, it does, but doesn't everyone have that by now?

I have lost all respect for you now. For that comment you deserve to be lashed until your back bleeds and then be forced to sleep with the camals for forty days and forty nights. After the sentence has ended you will be put out of your misery with decapatation.

(in other words: CEP is the anti christ of haks for 56kers so no not everyone has it)

Ahh, Ravenloft, I love Ravenloft, I'll try come along. -try-.

Don't worry, Naga, as soon as I get my time machine built, I'm going back to 1994 to rescue you. XD

Enki, i'll be there. Hopefully.

Anyone who's interested in playing, join #PoeticColossus on IRC.

Hey all - to everyone who played, a big thanks! EFU is truly fortunate to have such outstanding roleplayers who can sit through 3 hours of gothic horror and one or two fights! :)

Yeah, thanks everyone. It was fun getting to DM some of the most notorious EFU players (and one DM).

Very well done, thanks for having us.

Very awesome PC! If you do some more DM'ing, count me in! :)

wait I"m one of the most notroius players...Wow didn't think I had gotten that kind of reputation allready...

It was fun! For groups our size it may be good to increase the level of difficulty of the fights. As well it would have been cool to be able to follow the vampiere back and see if he kept his word.

I don't know about everyone else but I had to right click and bring up the radial menu to attack anything everything always to be neutral to me.

Anyway was fun good work!

Easy because you weren't getting attacked for 15ish damage! :) Remember our first fight, that nearly knocked out our 2nd fighter with two hits? Yea, no bueno... no bueno...

Anyways, kudos to everyone on that whole thing, especially PC and OC. I'd love to continue our little adventure sometime!

Edit: For the ANTS! Huzzah!

Mielikki for the win! Save the ant population! Yeah!

Yes, great work PC. Was good fun. Let me know if you need another player for any sequels.

So, we're thinking about doing one of the Forgotten Realms One SHots tonight as a pick up game if anyone is interested. Details on the module required hak is here http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=4171, and details about the module are on the first page of this topic.

Time in GMT would be: Sunday, June 25, 2006 at 05:30:00 or about an hour from now.

EFU IRC channel is #PoeticColossus

I'd love to but TZ and RL commitments really tend to limit my playing times a bit... *sighs*

I hope my post didn't come off as harsh wasn't intended that way..I enjoyed it didn't mean to sound like I didn't. If you ever decide to extend it having the goblin battle in the begining and then having us move to ravenloft would be cool show the change and the differences in game.

The pumpkin and the feel of the DM room were great by the way very nice touch
