There are a couple of things to keep in mind while using this forum:
(1) If you PM a letter, you don't need to have a separate post that just says: ((letter PMed))
(2) Do not RP NPCs in your letters, RP'ing NPCs is the job of DMs.
(3) Do not spam the forum. If you're writing essentially one letter, have a letter with the subject "Addressed to Watch and Spellguard" or "Addressed to all organized groups in the town"
(4) If your letter goes to NPCs, please make sure the letter is easily readable (proper spacing, punctuation, relatively concise).
(5) If you have business with a particular faction, it is best to try to work with the PCs in that faction first before you go straight to a specific NPC.
(6) If you're looking to join a faction, an OOC application sent to the DM e-mail account coupled with IC and IG efforts to enter into that faction is required.
Forum work is really one of the aspects of being a DM that I do not enjoy. It will make everything go much smoother if these basic guidelines are followed.
Thanks!

We're getting buried in paperwork. Please don't write novel-length letters. Keep it quick and easy to respond to, and bear with us. If you see a note hasn't been responded to, feel free to bump. Try to cut down on trivial letters.
Also, if you're looking for some OOC perk, send us an email explaining what you want OOC in an application format so we can process requests of that kind.

Please do not write IC letters with actual accents. It's totally ridiculous. People with accents don't write their accents into letters. Thanks!

Please also refrain, where possible, from writing notes to NPCs about things you could otherwise discuss with them in person. For example, rather than write to an NPC with the standard "My name is <whatever>, and I think it would be good to meet and discuss things of possible mutual interest", just find a DM IG.
It just creates unnecessary forum paperwork. Thanks!

A few notes.
Try to remember to keep letters to NPCs to a minimum.
If you do write a letter to a NPC, make it brief and concise (unless it's awesomeness demands length).
Letters to NPCs requesting something that is not of real plot significance (such as a mundane item, or whatever) are best avoided. If you want something of that kind, a brief OOC chat with a DM in IRC making the request is probably your best bet. For example, if you want a copper toilet bowl, or a special engagement ring, it is probably easiest to be lucky enough to get a DM with the time, interest, ability, and inclination to help you.
If it is a complicated request that relates to some kind of interesting plot, an OOC app is probably best.
Following these guidelines is a good way to improve the chances of your letters being responded to.

Just a reminder not to leave 'letters' for people at places your PC doesn't go to IG.
For example, leaving letters at Mur despite never leaving Upper. And so forth.
