Letter to the Watch and Councilor Ward

[letter to Watch] To concerned parties, [letter to Ward] Councilman Ward,

On a routine patrol of the sewers, I came across the Tigereye female Najre and half-orc Vragen standing over the body of a human female later identified as Deeds Westcastle. They had not detected me due to invisibility magic enfolding me. After eavesdropping on their conversation for a few minutes, they made multiple references to her belongings and gold, supposedly stolen from Vragen earlier. They picked over her things, Najre picked up the body and told Vragen to meet at the Tigereye Fortress. Towards the end, I spotted the goblin they referred to as Squeagle. Najre told Squeagle to "pick up her shit," what was left of it, and they left where they came. Squeagle disappeared past a corner when I was about to apprehend it for attacking Associate Balesmaan and I in the sewers before. In this altercation, Squeagle and Zau assaulted us and I was forced to deliver the killing blow to Squeagle as it kept getting healed by Zau after being subdued to strike at me again. On its body I found several drowish potions of healing, which I will turn in if required to.

Later, Private Lockwood and I spoke to Vragen and Najre. They admitted to murdering Deeds Westcastle. Based on what I observed in the sewers, motives were for her gold and her belongings, as Vragen made an overt reference to what Deeds stole from him. Based on their alibi, Deeds murdered Councilman Rilo Manasi at the behest of some unspecified mentor and attacked Vragen and Najre first when confronted about the claim. In order to assure the proper information reached you, I approached Najre as she was leaving the wellhouse with the bundle, made it clear I knew of the murder and was going to relay the information to the proper recipient, you.

Devir,

The news of Squeagle's death is good news indeed. I would suspect that it is fine for you to keep the potions, as they may be needed at some time in the future for a fight against Zau again. Ask a Watchman to doublecheck.

I'll be investigating this personally, though I would like for you to continue your search for answers as well. We will collaborate any results should anything come up.

Right now, I suspect that Deeds was working for Zau, but I have yet to confirm this. The mercenary's means may not of have been wholly ethical, but at least we're working with corpses instead of the living. Corpses very rarely attack one who studies them, so you cna see why this is somewhat more suitable.

Keep up the good work and find me anytime you need me.

Councilor Ward
