The letter is plainly marked with the Sigil of the Tigereye Mercenary Company. Despite this care with the outside, the inside is stained, sloppily-written and quite obviously smeared in more than one spot,
Councilors,
I write to you to tell of the death of she who murdered in cold blood the Councilor Rilo Manasi a few days prior to the writing of this. The woman Deeds Westcastle was found underneath the Lower City, in the Sewers, by myself and Tigerfang Vragen, the Half-Orc. We challenged her intentions, and she attacked after I accused her of the murder (which I already knew of - we will arrive to this point shortly). She attacked with clear intent to kill and we answered in kind. She died shortly after that.
Vragen had been attacked by her most cruelly, outside of Sanctuary, just a few hours prior. His first thought was to her purse -- all of her goods have been committed to storage and await scrutiny of any authorities as necessary.
After this, and hauling up her belongings, we discovered the goblin Squeagle lying about. I was in no shape to fight. Though not wounded, I had spent most of my offensive potions on the previous skirmish, and had no longer the element of surprise working for me. Furthermore, it became clear that Squeagle was her guide in some sort of endavour, and I became quickly aware of the possibility of the Drow Zau being about as well. Seeing as Squeagle did not react to our elimination of the girl, I supposed he was indeed leading her to Zau, so he could eliminate her.
The reasons for all this are quite obvious. Firstly, I had come across a few interesting object in Deeds' posession, and when I questioned her as to their origin, she told me to 'look in the local obituaries'. I pressed her a bit further, and eventually she revealed that she had killed Councilor Manasi at the behest of an unknown tutor (who, at this moment, I can only presume is Zau). This tutor had told her to 'kill someone, anyone'. She chose Manasi because he was visible, accessible and powerful.
On her person I found, however, only one thing that was truly, undeniably, of the Councilor's belongings. It is enclosed with Councilor Ward's letter. A key to Office #7 is enclosed with the copy that finds its way to Ward, and will be delivered in-game as soon as the possibility presents itself
After Westcastle was killed, we decided to try and goad Squeagle to surface with us, but he heard the presence of one Associate Devir, who was in the premises Gods-know-why. The goblin fled, with some posessions of the woman, unfortunately. He is at large at this moment.
I will be happy to provide any further clarifications on the matter in person. I hope you appreciate the transparency with which I am conducting this matter.
