For a long while now I've really wanted to get a group together for a real campaign. Meaning about 6 players and a DM, going on for quite some time.
If anyone else would be interested in getting together on IRC and doing this, or if you'd like to DM, respond here, please.
Ideally we'd meet once or twice a week. It would be full Roleplay, of course. D&D 3.5 rules, preferably.
So -er - Cheers.
[edit:] Clarification: This would be played over IRC, unless whatever DM -feels- like putting together a full campaign in NWN.

I'd love to do this. I was trying to organize something like this with a friend of mine a while back. The problem is, how do we handle dicerolls so that everyone can see them so nobody sneaks a 20 that they didn't actually roll?

Not a problem at all.
Darkmyst can provide a bot (Gameserv) which has commands for public dicerolls and such.
Very very handy.

My first RP experience EVER was like 6 months ago when I first jumped on CoA. Never done PnP. Don't know jack about it. What do you do?
I really have trouble imagining how it all works.

A sexy little resource for 3.5 D&D: http://systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html
It's got a lot of similarities to NWN, MadCaddies, although there is a -lot- different. Instead of the game rolling the dice, you'd be rolling them yourself. (or rather, the bot in the channel will be, but you'll get to type a nifty little command first).
The rules are a lot stricter. But the game can also allow a lot more creativity, too.
Doesn't take long ass hak downloads for example.
Really though, I'm hardly the person to teach anyone about PnP. As a matter of fact, I'm going to need a -lot- of coaching through it myself, unfortunately.
We also will need a good DM. <.<

I would like to try it out if I have time. I also vote for Oroborous as DM.

I'm totally in, provided it isn't so many players that it becomes a mess. I might be up for DMing as well. I have a campaign I was working on to DM with some friends but it never happened. It wasn't originally Forgotten Realms but could be made to be if that's what everyone is used to. If I did run it I'd say give me a week or two to get things organized enough to get started. However, we could start off by doing a premade module just to get into the swing of things. It's been a while since I've done PnP and I'm not super experienced as a DM outside of NWN but it sounds like lots of fun.
OK, how about this idea: I'll DM a premade, Wizards of the Coast module that can fit any setting we decide on (not saying which so there's no metagaming) and if we have tons of fun I'll work up my campaign and we'll continue from there? Or we can just consider it a one shot and start anew with something else once we've got the hang of it. That is if anyone thinks I'm capable. If not or if someone else really wants to DM I'd still love to play.
Also, if we do this and I DM, I'd love if someone familiar with Gameserv would give me a tour of it's features and show me how to work it before we start. And if we could use these forums for posting character info, session recaps, etc. that'd be an added bonus.

Sounds like fun. I'd not mind joining, if there is room. I've never PnP'ed with DnD before, though, so you'd have to bear with me as I stumble along picking the tricks of the ruleset up.

If there is room and the time is fitting for me, I think I could take part.
I have been playing PnP for some time, but this thing through IRC could work nicely if there are just few players and good DM.

Got a little behind on this.
Outcrowd will be DMing for us. We've ironed out some minor details that confused us.
We'll be running at first a predesigned module. It'll be pretty light roleplaying, mostly just so that we can warm up and start to get in sync with eachother. Once we finish that, outcrowd'll run a campaign he designed.
We've got an IRC channel set up for playing. #efupnp
On the to-do list, we need to pick a few players for the campaign, and we need to come up with a way to deal with maps.
Everyone will also need to roll up a character, which will take a while.
I think, as it stands right now, we'll be doing point-buy for abilities, but if there's an overwhelming desire for rolling, we can do that, sure.
So yeah, those interested, drop into #efupnp. I'm always there, and outcrowd is, when he's around.

Well, I'd be interested...if there is still room.

I may not have been clear -
I meant that everyone who is interested in joining in this shindig should drop into #efupnp and stay there.
That way we can get a real time discussion going about the various facets of the campaign, and what needs to be done.
We've got tons of things that need to be solved before we can even begin discussing playtimes, and I'd like to get everyone's feedback on it.

Regrettably, I think this is a no-go, after all.
If someone else would like to organize it, I'd be glad to join up, however, I haven't got the time or commitment to put it all together myself.
