Delgado,
The job is done, and I'm more than a little dissappointed at your decision to pay me only half in advance. I am the greatest there is at what I do, and this should prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Breen lies dead in his hole, surrounded by the corpses of spiders I slew. The amulet that gave him his "power" lost to the world in a place that only I know. The town saved because of my actions, and mine alone.
No watchman saved sanctuary today. No Spellguard Agent could accomplish what I have done. No seeker, paladin, or adventuring fool. You all owe your continued existance to me, the greatest assassin that ever lived.
The remainder of the gold will be given to me at a time and a place of my choosing. Get it ready.
The note is unsigned.

*Delgado wakes up, curses fervently as he realises he slept over the whole thing, grabs something to eat and then checks his mail.-
He reads this letter, furrows his brows slightly, puts it down and rubs his temples, finally moving to his room. He looks at Philip, sitting innocently on his pedestal, and swiftly hits him with a stick, shouting "You fool, he bloody knows!"*
*A sloppy looking reply is penned to Runeblade at Fort Mur*
Excellent work my friend, I knew my trust in your abilities were not misplaced.
We are going to have to discuss the terms for the return of that amulet you retrieved off Breen, as well as make sure you receive the second half of your payment.
You should feel no disappointment at my decision to pay you only half in advance, you must understand my mistrust of your intentions. You are after all both drow and an assassin.
Also, you may have dealt the killing blow but you did not concider that both of your affairs were being watched, scrutinized as someone studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. And yet, minds immesurably superiors than yours, slowly, but surely, drew their plans against him.

Delgado.
Do you take me for a fool? My abilites and intentions are one and the same. If I agree to kill a man, the man is dead. Withholding the advance of my rightful fee because I am a drow assassin is ludicrous. You hired me to kill someone, would you not hire an assassin for the job of slaying a man?
Ridiculous.
In my experience, when a simple matter is needlessly complicated, it is because something else lurks beneath the surface. You are transparent to me Delgado. I am no fool who will fall to your pathetic subtleties.
If ever you wish to hire me again, the price to speak to me is 3 thousand gold. This will be on top of the price of the assassination.
The note is unsigned.

Again, I reiterate, you are naught but a hired hand used to finish off a task which, although did not require subtlety, required someone close to Breen. Your abilities to complete tasks such as these were never in questions, as I would hardly hire an incompetent lout. I have never hired you before and you've been fickle, at best, in the past.
I hardly call it "ridiculous" for me to wish to protect my investment by simply offering you half of the payment in advance to ensure that you have something other than your supposed "assassins honor" to convince me that you will indeed finish the task.
You may not be a fool but you do you fear me so that you cannot find yourself capable of meeting with me again in order to receive the second half of your payment? So be it then.
I will contact you when I require your services again, which will hardly be in the near future as I am not in the business of throwing away gold in order to satiate the hubris of assassins.
Simply keep in mind that if I have no use for you, I hardly see a reason to keep the Council and the general populace off your back. If such is to be the case, I suggest you find another base of operation than Sanctuary, which you so desperately cling to.
