A letter to the Council

A tall man in red plate stops by the Town Hall and drops this letter off.

Esteemed Councilors,

My name is Hrothgar Skret, Bloodreaver of Garagos. I recently sent a letter to you all, though it seems I missed my mark. I was replied to by one Egar Hallows, who I have not heard of. A copy of the initial letter is enclosed. I ask that you read this first.

((OOC: Copy of letter enclosed: https://efupw.com/efu1-forum/topic/57/5741/a-letter-to-the-council/index.html))

The issues and questions in my initial letter are still very much pertinent. Any help or feedback would be very much appreciated.

It has come to my attention that there is a space, crude though it may be, directly beneath the Sanctuary Arena in Upper. Considering the current state of Sanctuary's Arena, I have an offer for the Council. The offer is this:

That the Church of Garagos, which will in the very near future form the Sanctuary Warriors Guild, be sanctioned by the Council to take over the maintenance of the Arena. This will include patrolling, refurbishing, cleaning and administrating the Arena. Additionally, the Church will run monthly gladitorial tournaments, with the profits going to the Council. In return for this service, both the Church and the soon-to-be Warriors Guild be given the crude space below as their own. The Church and Guild will use this area to store weapons and arms for its members, primarily. If space permits, a small barracks and shrine to Garagos will also be built.

As a warrior myself, I beleive that an Arena is a very important part of a city's identity. The citizens and warriors of this community alike need an Arena which they can be proud about. Currently, this is simply not the case. Ideally, the Arena should never be empty, as it so often is now. Not only does a town's Arena serve as a host to warrior training, citizen entertainment and tournament fighting and events, it is also the place where one's honour is defended. A place where one dies defending his honour should never look as our Arena does now. It is unfitting.

The permission for the taking over of the maintenance of the Upper Sanctuary Arena by the Church of Garagos is thus formally requested.

Again, any help or feedback is very much appreciated. Any Councilors who wish to speak to me in person I shall meet. If not, you can write to me at the Crone.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

*signed* Bloodreaver Skret.

Skret gets pissed off that none of his letters to the Council have been responded to, but manages to write one last one, which is so similar that reading the one above would sum it up grandly.

[EDIT: Lots of spelling mistakes]

[letter is recieved, and is being processed. The Council is totally unaware that 1/1500 of its electorate is getting pissed at it. Another method of getting ahold of them might be more efficient...]

//except the server ain't alive yet >.<

Piss tired, Jacob finds a copy of the letter on the messy piles of paper on his desk. He begins reading, yawns, finishes reading and goes to have a small nap. A few hours later he comes back and notices the letter again, and pens a reply.

Skret,

Gaeseric is sponsoring someone else to maintenance the arena. You're going to have to offer us more then just paying for maintenance to get this idea approved, because as it is now nobody objects to what Gaeseric proposes.

Your councilor, -J. Geigne

Councilor Geigne,

Thank you for your reply. I offer, in addition to the previously mentioned maintenance duties, a daily rent of 100 gold peices.

Will that not suffice?

Many thanks,

*signed* Bloodreaver Skret.

((OOC- I was fairly drunk when I wrote the 'pissed off' part :o ))

Skret,

I will mention your idea before the Council in regards with Gaeseric's sponsorship. If anything comes of it, I'll keep you updated.

Additionally, how numerous are the followers of Garagos? It would help if you are the leader of a group versus Gaeseric's sponsor, who is from what I know a loner.

Your councilor, -J. Geigne

Councilor Geigne,

The Church of Garagos numbers seven presently, with a number of others showing interest, though have yet to been formally joined. The Church is, in all sense of the word, exclusive. Exclusive to anyone but a real warrior sworn true to Garagos.

However, as mentioned, the Church of Garagos will be helping to support the creation of, and in the future the expansion of, another entity, the Sanctuary Warrior's Guild. The tenets of the Guild have already been discussed. The Guild will be much larger in scope than the Church, catering for all miliary men here in Sanctuary, of any faith and background. Unfortunately, the widespread, positive interest the notion of the guild has provoked in the warriors of this town is offset by the lack of a base of operations. No Guild can operate without a headquaters, and the lack of one is the only thing preventing its formal formation. Which is, of course, why I write.

Your helpful responses thus far have been very much appreciated, Councilor. Here's hoping that the Council have the foresight to see the manyfold advantages, for both parties, my offer represents.

Again, many thanks.

Best regards,

*signed* Bloodreaver Skret.

P.S. Is it possible that you name for me Gaeseric's sponsor for me? I thought perhaps it may be best if I meet with him, and discuss the issue with him, in the hope of working out a mutually beneficial agreement oursleves.

Bloodreaver Skret,

Gaeseric's sponsor is the gladiator Berennock. If you can come to terms with him then the issue is easily settled.

Best of luck, -Councilor Geigne
