listening through doors

One aspect of the listen skill I hadn't really used before is the abiltiy to listen through doors. Though on a PW where information plays such an important role as in this one I've found this can be a VERY important skill. However I've noticed that where the skill works and doesn't work at times makes little sense...I seem to be able to here through metal doors as well as wodden ones for example..this makes little sense to me. Is this considered a bug? Is there a rule on when I should ignore the things I happen to hear through doors and when I can assume that I actually heard it? How does the use of items that cast amplify chage this.

Been using commen sense so far (that you can't hear through metal doors for example)

Generally, if you see the text on your screen, you heard it. While it may not always seem to make 100% perfect sense to you logically, it's very nitpicky and complicated to enforce a rule on this, and could lead to a lot of disputes.

So, if you hear it, you hear it. Much easier!

Note that this is for hearing conversations through doors, not Tabbing to "hear" monsters hiding in sealed rooms. That remains metagaming.

Most definitly never had a question about that..though I assume if you can see a white outline of the creature behind a closed door (as rogues can at some points) that means you were able to hear enough to identify it?

You got it.
