[A letter sent to the Watchhouse and the Tigereyes]

The Society of the Ordered Mind, while hunting for aberrations, encountered a bizzare, but possibly deadly, threat to unwarry travelers from Sanctuary. While searching for umber hulks in the dark canal area, just ouside of the lower gate, we were visited by a creature most foul. It stood some three feet tall, it was pale as bone, and wore odd, dilapitated clothes. It spoke to us and told that the dark canal an its waters were its territory and made several threats to us of a discusting nature. The creature implied that there were more of its kind in the area, possibly living in a community. They claim to kill anything, powerful aberration to stragling goblins, which poss through the area. Their claim may well be true, for as a paladin, I sensed an evil and malicious power oozing from this fiend. It was undeniably powerful, and it asked for a huge sum of coin randsoming our freedom from its wrath. Instead, we preformed a task for it of a curious nature which is unimportant to describe here.

I believe that this small and pale woman is not to be underestimated, nor taken lightly. I have already told a friend or two not to go into the dark canal area. My suggestion, to you, is to issue warning to the public of this situation, and possibly investigate the area further. The Society does not believe these little fiends to be an aberration threat, but we could be mistaken. A copy of this letter has been sent to both the Watch and the Tigereyes, for the information of those who read it.

If you do decide to investigate further, please inform the Society your findings if you may.

- Laramie Lathae, of the Society of the Ordered Minds [A stylized, open eye of blue ink is drawn]

Laramie Lathae,

I appreciate your passing word to us. Now, having had some time to reflect, have you any thought as to what exactly this creature is? There has recently been report of a vampire in that area as well. Might there be a connection? Did you see it do anything other than stand there? Meaning, see it in combat, observe it move about. The first thing that pops into my head is a Derro, but I could be far off the path on this one. They are sneaky and stealthy lil bastards, often coming up with some reason or another to devote their mind to a cause.

Watch thanks you for all your information and we are surely going to see into this matter. We happily accept any further information that you could provide us, so we can see how to proceed with it.
