A note for the elf Potter, left at the Rock Bottom Inn

In one of the quieter hours of the night, a small faint light flickers into focus outside the door to the Rock Bottom Inn. It waits patiently, bobbing up and down before the threshold until the door next opens. Zipping inside the entryway and across the common room in a long straight arc, it blinks out, just inches above the bartop. In its place a small, neatly folded note falls before an astonished Spencer Twist.

In block letters of cobalt ink, the note says:

Potter.

I regret to say that I will not be returning to Sanctuary for some while to come, that I feel myself in too much danger here. Fear not and know that I am safe where none can find me, at peace for once it seems. My sincere thanks for your assistance in these dark times and the hope that I will someday be able to repay your acts in kind. For now, however, let me slip into forgetfulness, so few may remember the acts of a once-foolish gnome. If I return, I will be wiser and a better friend.

Be safe and walk lightly.
