Sometimes, after taking massive damage, a player's character is not correctly transfered to the fugue, leaving them standing there above their body.
(If this happens, contact a DM to transport you).
However, when a DM is not available, it is a pretty serious bug.

that seems like it would be great to roleplay..can other people here you..could act as a ghost, be rather interesting it the bug took place during pvp. Could log in as the old character every once in awhile and haut your murderer..perhaps you should encorporate this in some way..

Bad, bad Zaldar. That's not how it should be!

No, definitely not. It's purely OOC.

It will cause a lot of problems as you are flagged dead, but not in the fugue. Will cause more issues on reset.

Issues such as, I suspect, losing all of your items.
Fixing this has been pretty high priority for a while now -- hopefully it'll be squashed soon.

There's also a rare situation where people do get ported to the fugue, but die again. Somewhat more common to see people ported, and then damaged in the fugue.
Usually in situations of large damage.

Have there been any negative side effects to that latter problem you mentioned Howland? It's happened to me, and caused me to load into the fugue, pause for about a half second, then have the OOC welcome loading screen show for like a split second, similar to when you log on, and then tansition back to the fugue. Nothing odd resulted from it, so I never brought it up. This was a long time ago, before feburary.

ok would have expected the character to be completly dead and never have to worry about getting your stuff back but I will treat it as ooc if it ever happens to me (I still think the idea of having pc ghosts might be interesting though)

wanted to add my two cents here....if you die and are still standing above your body, and then die again! you should be transported to the fugue and things then work normally like they should...no DM intervention needed.
But I don't want to be the test rabbit for this theory, but I've had it happen twice and everything was fine.

I think I may have some idea of what causes this, however unlikely it is. I think it happens when you get hit for damage, even after you get killed on the ground. For example, when you get hit by someone dual wielding weapons for a combined 5 attacks per round, sometimes they'll keep attacking after you go below -10 hp, or whatever, causing you to stand back up and cancelling the 'GotoFugue' part of the script.

I think we have pinned this one down (maybe!) and we have a fix, but I want to test it out first to make sure that it won't introduce any other issues before I put it in the live module.

SHOULD BE FIXED
At long last.
Hopefully the fix for this did indeed fix it, and didn't introduce any other issues. Report any oddities!
