Hello my friends, an idea occurs to me, however I am firmly dedicated to not meddling in the affairs of your city and thus would not ever consider such an idea, without your approval. If you do not approve, I will not commit to this course of action-this is your domain and one I would not place even the smallest step into.
It occurs to me that a great many of the mages in the city are studying without any sort of oversight from more experienced mages. What is more, to my knowledge no professional societies exist for mages in the city. The benefits of cooperation between mages are numerous, the least of which is it tends to promote a more calm atmosphere and also one where magical use is more sedate. It also brings more skepticism on a mages activates by his peers and makes him less likely to step over improper lines. A mage who need only fear the eyes of common folk is far more likely to act improperly then when he is watched by his peers. When a mage acts in isolation, he is more likely to engage in unwise magic use.
It is for that reason that I would like to create an organization which I have thought to call the Sanctuary Society of Magic.
There are no membership dues and no command structure, no hierarchy-it is not a group to control or manipulate power in any way. It is a place for mages to meet their peers and work with them for productive means. Membership rosters will be kept publicly.
Since I briefly have your attention, I would like to add that my research into a viable portal system to the surface is making steady progress and I remain confident the problem is no more then a few months away from negation, perhaps eight at the outside, I would place it more towards seven or six.
