Where to start... Well, first I'd like to say good job to the designers/DMs of EFtU -- so far it looks like a very well thought-out and put together PW, and just from browsing the forums it looks like the DMs are pretty involved. Hopefully I'll get to the chance to participate in a few DM-ran events and such.
Second off... Well, I guess a bit about myself. I joined the server/forums back at the beginning of the year, but due to RL I didn't really get a chance to "get into things" here. With that being said RL is being a little kinder at the moment, but I still classify myself as a very casual gamer and probably won't be on that often. I like to role-play, and I'm a sucker for Underdark games. I tend to enjoy playing evil-ish characters (although I've never played a Drow), and truly enjoy playing any type of "monster" race (especially orcs, goblins, and kobolds).
So, I think that's about it for now... any orc, goblin, or kobold player factions that could use some fresh blood? :D

I would post something positively hugely sized, bold, and generally over-the-top, but instead I'll just bid you welcome. Welcome down!

Always glad to see another player. Welcome to the server and hope that you stick around. It's a great environment with a lot of good rp, and yes, the DMs are very involved and almost constantly running plots and spicing up the scripted quests.
Hope you have fun here.

Welcome! EfU's a great server, with heaps of atmosphere, a fantastic player base and DM's that are friendly and committed to making it as much fun for us as possible. (sound like a real suck don't I... )
Enjoy!

Welcome our dear Goreignak
Who on a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known.
High on the rapids
It struck his tiny raft.
And plunged him down a thousand feet below.
To the land of the Underdark!
ARRRRR!

Heh, thank you all for the overly-large and piratical welcome! :D
I've started up a swordsman named "Acheron" in case anyone is interested. Thanks again for the welcome. :)

not to put a damper on your grand welcome here, but this server is damn tough. Mostly due to the fact that if you respawn it takes 1/3 of your total xperience with it.
I dropped from a level 7 character down to a level 4 in one death.
So my suggestion is that you play ultraconservatively - hack 'n slash only works in a large group and even then it's very easy to get in over your head.
Welcome aboard, enjoy the challenge of this server.

I disagree! :D
I think you should play how your character would ICly. If your a cowardly mage or thief, stay stealthed or invis! If your a cowardly warrior, stay in the backline, or walk slowly.
For example, my level 4 cleric of Garagos (look up his dogma if you dont know him, in the 'Faith's section in the forum index  ) heard mention of an ogre hunt a few hours ago IG. He immediately offered his aid, and indeed would have went if no one wanted to. He lives for battle. He ended up joining a group with about an average level range of 7. There were 7 others besides him. That means there was going to be a * :x * of a spawn. Now, OOCly I knew I was going to get owned by the mages and beserkers, with my 17AC (buffed). But it was the IC thing for him to do. He charged in first and came out last, and *somehow* didn't die (actually, it was becuase of the very quick-thinking wiz Dicho, who rocks my world). I fully expected him too though. It was a blast!
So, you said that large groups are easier and that you should play ultra-conservatively. Large groups are harder, much harder, and how you play should depend on yoru character, ultimately.
Thats my rant, anyway. 8)
