Declining of Rothe

A notice, hung up in the Rock Bottom Inn and Town Hall, which is written in an elegant handwriting.

To all who read this,

I am looking into the current declining population of Rothe in the regions around Sanctuary. I am in need of answers to the following questions:

-How large is the current Rothe population? -How large was the Rothe population, over the course of ten-year intervals, dating back to onehundred and fifty years ago? -How large is the current population of their natural predators (Humanoids excluded)? -How large was the population of their natural predators (Humanoids excluded), over the course of ten-year intervals, dating back to onehundred and fifty years ago? -Have the Rothe ever suffered from diseases, in the course of onehundred and fifty years, and did this have notable effects on their decline? -Were there any abnormalities, in their pregnancy-patters? -How has the natural diet of Rothe changed, over the course of onehundred and fifty years? -Have Rothe migrated to other regions, in the course of onehundred and fifty years?

I would like an answer, to these and all other questions, that would help explain why the Rothe are on their current brink of extinct.

I dont possibly see why someone such as you might be interested in the Rothe population. I would imagine the Spellguard have more pressing matters. However, since you have touched upon a subject tangential to nature, there is a person who is a total expert on these matters. Her name is Grizabella.

However, the likelihood of you getting any answers from her are nominal *at best.* She is as big a fan of the ever expanding sprawl known as Sanctuary as I am, or any other druid who watches the poisons spit out of your sewers into the canals, and feels the cries from the stones of the underdark themselves at every new mouth to feed from the population of a place, that by most accounts should have been destroyed decades ago.

I will leave you with what I can tell you. Everything eats Rothe. I see Deep pigs, hounds, spiders, all feasting on it. It is an integral cog in nature's gears. If there is a population decline, I would most likely attribute it to a decided imbalancing of the balance of nature. You might surmise as to why I think that is so. Perhaps you might want to ask the domesticated rothekeeper about mating habits.

[note posted just beneath in the Rock Bottom]

What decline are you talking about? How large were their numbers in the past? I hunt rothe regularly and they seem quite plentiful. If anything I have noticed a slight increase in their numbers in my short time here. Where you find mushrooms, you will find rothe.

A note is tacked on beneath the tacked on note, with an arrow pointing upwards.

Agent, there is one of your reasons.

Very annoyed at seeing more helpless messages, he attaches new notes to his posters.

As one can understand that Rothe hunting will likely be a major factor in the declining of the Rothe populations, one needs statistic proof no other factor is responsible for this. Should empirical proof not be able to be provided, one can never make a proper decision. In Oghma's name, I hope to acquire knowledge to this soon, for it would be in the better of Sanctuary were we to have a solution to this problem.

I may still be contacted at the Spellguard Tower,

Agent de la Rey.
