Right now we're in alpha, which means that everything is quite buggy, but I still think it's important to practice and prepare ourselves for the time when this server will go truly live and become a sustainable, smoothly running world.
(1) DMs are constantly jumping around, so it's very easy for to miss something that happens: it helps us a great deal if you keep us up-to-speed using the /dm channel if you're involved in something with us.
(2) Essentially, almost every quest in the game right now is too hard. Partially this is because all the PCs are super low level and have terrible equipment, but we'll definitely be doing a lot of adjusting.
(3) I know I've been free with the of handing out TRs and setting NPCs to subdual, but I caution you against relying on that. It makes you sloppy. Remember, you're trying to RP a survivor. If you haven't discovered cheap sources of healing yet, ask around. If you're badly wounded, would you still want to rush into combat? Work together with your party as a team: take it slow, don't ignore when a party member dies or is bleeding to death on the expectation that a DM will handle it. Especially in the Underdark wilderness areas, you should be exceptionally careful.
(4) If something happens that seemed particularly unfair or buggy, it probably was. Mention it on the DM channel politely, and we'll help if we can.
(5) Hoarding is acceptable IC, but from the perspective of a DM it can be frustrating when you're doing your best to ensure a party survives a quest and all the healing you drop goes to a single PC. Emoting something like *grabs all the healing supplies for himself* so that the other characters are more aware of what happened would be better -- we do have a script that shows when pcs pick up things, but it can easily be lost in combat messages.
