General roleplay questions

Ok I have a couple of general roleplay questions (first let me say this is a great forum idea)

Several times I've been asked how long I have been in sanctuary. I realise this is a general question used to get a grasp on my knowledge of the world but I'm always somewhat at a loss for how to answer. Do I use the IG time system? Do I give the number of RL days I've been involved? Do I make some sort of estimate based on the number of times I've been in the server (I don't play every day) and my level?

A couple of times either my connection was lost or the connection of one of the people around me was lost causing their character to fade into nothingness. How should I handle this in game? If I'm alone when it happens I usually just ignore and go on about my business, if I'm with other people I try and ignore it but act according to how they act to some extent. When it happens to me I make sure not to go back to the area I was in (if I reconnect) since that might be just a little to odd.. Are there specific "rules" about how to handle these situations? Thanks!

For the purposes of plots/long-term stuff, we generally say that 1 RL day = 1 day in Sanctuary. You can in fact access the IG date on our IRC channel or even a a calendar placeable in the town hall.

If there's an OOC bug or connection issue, it's best to just ignore it IC. Sometimes people explain it IC as "I had to go to the bathroom" or something else, but it should generally be ignored.
