Experiment

Prologue:

I'm writing these for you, Dr. Razvanul, If something goes wrong. I want you to continue what you have already started. It is not that rare when mighty wizards are dealing with magic. Memory is only something which will disappear

Fear is interesting, oh yes, very. But it is also complicated, hard to understand if you are not familiar with it. And, like you already know, or knew...heh, to get familiar with fear is not easy.

I have picked up some interesting persons, some are also randomly taken. If you look these notes carefully, you might find the things you have found out years, or maybe just days ago.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Test subjects:

Albert bane, probably a monk of somesort:

Claims that he dont have any fears, but you doubt this. This man was probably too afraid to tell his fears, someone could use them as an advantage (this is how they think). Very usual amongst people who think they are important persons or otherwise try to look "cool".

You asked about nightmares then, and again, this young man deny the option of any possible nightmares. Seems that this man is fearless...Heh

Anyway, after he looked at one of your pictures and tried to twist a joke from it, you pointed the door.

Now you should know, that interviewing persons like this is not going to lead anywhere if you dont know how to open their mouths.

Operative Delgado:

This spellguard was interesting one, and I hope you read this section very carefully.

After little small talk about spellguards, you decided that now is the time to interview him. You did not find out any fears, but that was mainly cause he did not want to endanger his position. Though he said that he got several fears. You hoped that later you will find out more information about his fears. He also told that he got nightmares and those were..mmm..something from the past. After this you tried to find out what happened in those, but he claimed that he was in hurry and had no time to continue. He was afraid, he probably did not want to go trough that nightmare again...something very terrible. For him, of course...heh. This nightmare might be the biggest fear as well. Find this out, but gently. Proceed from stage to stage.

Other notes:

Dwarf, Nulinus Jilkelden: You travelled with him, and asked about his fears. He said he fears unknown. This might be something you should examine closely, the fear about what happens tomorrow.

Own Experience:

You saw a malar panther when you travelled with this Nulinus. You found it just behind the pole in the abandoned mines. It scared hell out of you...heh. This ghastly, dog like creature, could be something worthy of small research.

~Dr. Razvanul~

Interesting times.

You discussed with Shauna Trevail, here are the results.

Fears: She fears that somebody/something will hurt her sister or person called Kata. Later you found out that Kata is a fighter of somesort, very close friend for Shauna. She fears most that somebody could control her. Mind especially. Seems that you need to examine illithids and brain dogs more closely. She also admit that it would be terrifying to watch if somebody works with her..body..controlling every part of it.

Nightmares: Seems that this person had very lovely childhood. No nightmares according to Shauna.

Some pictures you showed to her: -Slime picture with body parts inside it: She got an image of enemy inside it.

-Devils torturing: She got and image where her friend is torturing with devils. She also said that would not like to be there.

-Tombstone on cold and dark area, skeletons: You did not get anything clear out of her, seems that people love to joke about the pictures.

Then you asked, what is the creature/beast/person she fears most, and her answer was Human. She said that creature or beast can kill, but humans steal the soul and warp the mind.

First patient: Ricos Swordhand

He had a problem with nightmares, he tells to you how it started:

They went to underdark, small group of adventurers. Then they met some drow/s and the drows wanted to kill some escaped slaves, as an example for other slaves they hold. Your patient tried not go, but the other group forced him, especially some druid who was actually a drow. They found the escaped slaves, but after the others slaughtered all but one, the druid forced your patient to kill one, or otherwise the druid would kill Ricos. Ricos said that he had no option, so he 'murdered' the last slave.

After this, Ricos got every night a nightmare, where he went through that story again and again, always ended to his murder.

Treatment: This was very easy for you, you summoned one least ghost and acted like the ghost was the slave your patient murdered. After you 'discussed' with the ghost, you said to the patient that he should not worry anymore, the slave is no happy, with his family and you tried to give him as much sympathy through 'the slave'. This was most successful, your patient believed all you told to him and he has no nightmares anymore.

Seems that solving a psychologic problem like this is in some circumstances best to handle by lying.

Other notes: Somebody summoned demons in rock bottom, to the room where was two girls. The girls claimed that they had no part in this, like the demons would pop out of nowhere...interesting.

The other girl, Erandla, told you about some letters made of fire. Some time ago, before these demons, there was lots of burning letters in the rock bottom inn, those formed two sentences: "Hello Kroop" "Come to the badlands" These might have something to do with the demons, but this happened some months or weeks ago, so...

Demons used very effective looking spell, some kind of rubbery tentacles trying to hit all over. Find this spell out.

Own experience: You were stoned for sure. Lucky that one of the group members had stone of some sort which was able to release you from the stone. Look out for something which will give more resistance against this effect. Maybe something inside the medusa can product a ward, or inside basilisk.
