I think bats should spawn randomly to the sewers as well. Similarly like some other creatures already do. Since it is very much a place where bats would thrive. Damp, dark, lots of cracks on the walls where to cling to.

Our sewers aren't damp, dark, nor do they have cracks on the walls. We have state-of-the-art Svirfneblin sewage, the best there is in the world. Artificial lighting, humidity-control, fresh-air ventilation. I wouldn't put it past them. And cracks in the walls? Svirfneblins are the best craftsmen in the world, these babies are build to last!
They built it several dozens of years ago. Sewers aren't made out of mithril, you know. :)
With cracks I did not meant those that time makes, but just the ones that can be found in any structure. Bats can take a hold on the smallest crack there is. And they are damp, since there is free water/sewage/whatever floating about. And the steam coming from the pipes. Damp enough. And dark enough. :P
