The Spellguard have long kept Sanctuary in terror with their strict rules regulating magic, and fairytales of enemies that still don't know the location of the city when a five hundred gold coin reward is freely offered at Fort Mur for information about it.

This coupled with the fact the Drow know the location of the city makes the group obsolete in every sense of the word, yet they still cling to their power and push the message of fear into the citizens minds every single day, when they are not busy pushing around people in general.

Their type of tyranny must be put down, violently if need be.
