Hello,
We have been told that it is you who supply the lady Norma in Sanctuary monthly with Sunrods of various strengths. Is it you who create these, or do you get them from someone else? If the former, we would like to discuss a business proposal with you that you will find satisfying, I am sure. If the latter, we would be much thankful if you could tell us who the creator is, or at least if you can tell us who you get them from. Please leave your reply at the Blue Mushroom, we'll check back regularly.
Thanks,
Thomas and Adrian

A hired courier residing at the Blue Mushroom takes both letters and sails out across the Dark Lake...

A sealed letter is left at the Blue Mushroom, addressed to Thomas and Adrian. The wax seal bears an imprint of a cobalt blue mushroom, which glows faintly in dark light.
Thomas and Adrian,
I do not produce these items. I do ferry them wholesale across the Dark Lake from their producer, one Alvarius Lannther, a reclusive mage living quite distant from these shores. For a nominal fee, I can convey a missive to him on my next cargo shipment out in that direction.

Another letter is left at the Mushroom, addressed, this too, to Blippo the gnome.
Goodgnome Blippo,
Thank you for your reply. We would be much interested in contacting this Alvarius Lannther. In fact, would it be possible (for a generous payment, of course) for you to bring us along on your next treck across the lake, to meet with him in person? It would be a great help, and I'm sure we can work a price out that will make it worth the extra trouble.
If that is not possible, we would be happy to accept your first offer. Name your price, and bring him the letter that is attached to this one.
With hopes of a good agreement,
Thomas and Adrian
Sealed letter for Alvarius Lannther
Sir Lannther,We have been told that you are the one responsible for creating the Sunrods that the gnome Blippo ships. We have a business proposal for you; We would be greatly in need of a more permanent, large source of sunlight, sufficient for lighting the interiors of a reasonably large cavern. If a meeting could be arranged to further discuss this, please let us know. We would, of course, pay much for such a great project, and hopefully, it could be an interesting artistic challenge for you to work with, in comparision to what must be pretty dull work with creating the normal rods. Please leave your reply with Blippo the gnome.
With hopes that an agreement can be made,
Thomas and Adrian

Thomas and Adrian,
Apologies for the late reply. I have just returned from a long journey across the Dark Lake that did not go as well as I had hoped. A large sea creature shook my boat and devoured a great deal of my cargo, which included a shipment of rare mushrooms that I will be hard pressed to replace. I'm afraid that present circumstances make it impossible for me to afford to take passengers along. Absolutely all of the available cargo space must be used to help make up for the recent losses.
I will convey your letter for a fee of a hundred gold pieces. Just find me at the Blue Mushroom in the next few days before I set off again. I understand that this may seem a steep price, but I am rather hard pressed. Should my trade route continue to be disrupted, I may be forced out of business entirely.

A drenched tired pale grey svirfneblin gnome stumbles into the Blue Mushroom Inn, tosses a small wet pouch of coins on the innkeep's stone table, and plods over to the rooms. In his hand is a waterproofed rothe leather satchel, containing a handful of gems, a bottle of ink, two quills, an inventory of lost cargo, and a letter addressed to Thomas and Adrian. He passes out immediately upon reaching his room, not even bothering to get to the bed, and sleeps soundly for two days straight before worrying about delivering the message.
