Server Performance

I'd like to get a sense of how we'll we're doing in terms of actual server performance. So I'd appreciat a quick post letting me know how it is: laggy, intermittent lag, zero lag, etc.

I really didn't have much lag when I played. Kudos to you guys.

I didn't notice any lag, either, so at least at this scale, it works fine.

Zero lag.

Slight, almost negligible lag in some moments, but the "mistransitions" (i.e. being thrown back immediately after the transition) seem to be more frequent.

No lag.

I got a slight amount of lag last night, but it wasn't really enough lag to detract from anything.

The only lag I got was from my ISP >_<

lag was insubstantial but i noticed unloading/loading times were slightly larger than arabel. must be some other reason for that.

Lag will probably get worse when EfU becomes a metropolis of people and there are always 40 or so people online. Nothing yet, though, which was cool.

No noticable problems with either lag or server stability :)

No lag coming from this side of the world (Australia). The pings are about the same as I get on CoA.

Server stability can't be commented on as of yet I suppose. So far it's crashed often, but then again it's probrably due to the tons of bugs present. *shrugs*

I experienced some lag towards the end of the Pickaxe quest in the Mausoleum. About a one second delay from when I pushed enter to when the text displayed. Not too bad, though in intense combat that kind of lag time could be frustrating.

I otherwise get a little lag, which is a little annoying, or no lag at all.

zero lag , quick transitions

No lag. (I am in Sweden.) I got some lag for a minute or two, but you also said we were gonna feel some Howland. So, I guess you were downloading something, or whatnot. :P

My area unloading/loading times are longer than usual.

Latency is not a problem at all.

minimal lag last night, a couple of time it when into light lag mode for about 10-15 seconds, I'm sure something bug was going on at those times though. overall, running really well.

Quite a bit of lag tonight durring the Kraab chase. Seemed to get better as people left the sewers but it was still pretty bad throughout the quest.

I don't think the Kraab quest wasn't the only DM lovin' at that time. It was laggy for those of us plaguing Metro. At one point, I ran through a doorway (and into melee) about four times. Everything seemed to settle right after combat.

I haven't experienced any lag, minor or major, whatsoever as of yet. However, during some quests (the much-feared Gnoll quest for example) when you take along to many others, they spawn increases greatly. With the spawn come many opponents, along with many opponent spellcaster. Their mass-area effect, like the Gnoll Shaman Knockdown spell, can create a very slow frames-per-second, making it almost as lethal as lag.

I have expirenced lag from time to time, but its probably just my computer. Additionally, I was playing on dial up until a few weeks ago, seemed to get much better when I switched over to a cable modem.

The shaman "gust of wind" spell isnt that processor heavy, it just KDs you for a long time but its like balagarn's iron horn, really hard to resist.

For me, EfU is down right now... =(

The Ace Of Blades For me, EfU is down right now... =(

I don't know why it is down but all the other servers are boring me now :(

Workin' perfectly now! Thanks for the great game! :D

Ever since the server move I am having massive lag, jumping around, that sort of thing. I still ping about 200 ((yeah dial-up baby!!)) but I am having alot of data packet loss. Now, I know Strife said it was me yet every other server I can play perfect like before as well as any online game. The only place I have this issue is on EFU server. This leads me to believe it is something to do with the new hosting service or maybe new software/hardware that was added that may need tweeking. I asked around a bit and found out many people are also having lag issue, maybe not as bad as me, but they are there!! So I am hoping maybe someone can look into this a bit. Just incase it is a server issue.

My ping has increased by a regular 200 since the server was moved. Performace has decreased substantially.

Haven't noticed any significant change in lag or load times, but the frequency of NWN crashes when transitioning has increased substantially. (Game freezes during loading of new area.)

Don't know if this is coincidental or not -- this is a problem I usually experience on the CoA server, and hardly ever on the EfU server before the change.

It very well could be related, as I have also noticed that as well. I hope this gets looked into and not just shrugged off, but who knows.

No major lag on my end. My ping seems to be slightly higher (but still only around 80), and I have been disconnected a couple times which typically doesn't happen to me.

From time to time I go from very little lag to a heap of lag. This has only arisen since the new server has went up

During the troll quest in Low Road about two hours ago, the entire party (bar one person) died due an unforeseen major lag spike that: - had players crashing out of the game, logging in dead, others characters were unable to activate anything as simple as swinging a sword, or using a heal wand, drink a potion, while trolls still maintained regular and multiple attacks.

That was the experience from my end. The other seven or so players had other issues with the game and most experienced a lag death. What is the policy on this kind of unfortunate turn of events that obviously has a big impact on all those who died? I do remember reading somewhere that lag monster deaths cannot realistically be remedied.

I only ask because this is the second lag-death for me this week, and I am wondering if it is my computer's poor perfomance, my own gaming skills, or the server has some crazy lag happening at odd times?

Just thought you should know, and wondered if anyone else experienced this kind of set-back with their own PCs while gaming in the last week?

I was the victim of lag death this week (combined with my own ignorance). When fighting gnomes with friends I cast Combust (which I learned later requires a touch attack  ), and as I watched my wizard walk/blink into the melee there was nothing I could do to save the poor lad...

Lag = possible death Lag + Ignorance = certain death

Sometimes I disconnect, even 4-5 times in a row. Guess it's not a server problem tough.

I seem to crash very often when loading the upper gates area. I suppose this is from the change in the gates and their destruction. Not sure if anyone else if having this problem or if anything can be done about it.

The New Upper gate Area destroyed my computer.

  1. I crash about once in every three times I walk through the area.
  2. It is by far the longest transition time for me.
  3. My already gimped transition speed is further hampered, by Old Sanctuary deciding not to finish loading the New Upper gates; This occurs about once in every three times I attempt to load the area.
  4. These all occur in periods of: no lag and high lag, no other people and Loads of other people. This makes me believe it's not lag related.
Something Is bugging me out, I'm not sure what it is. I assumed it was a Graphic thing, but I've tried everything I can in the settings on my end, with no sign of any improvement.
