Solid Proclamation: Nailed to Townhall Doors

Who is Running for Council?

It is with bias this is written. I'm Mandarin Dreagle, I won Council elections three months ago. In exchange for promising to serve you, promising to change things--underhanded devils betrayed me and sold me back into slavery. I escaped once again, and once again promised myself to the service of Sanctuary's people.

Who else is running though? Who else stands for something here? You'll hear a lot of promises, a lot of speeches, but you hear mostly a lot of lies. I've got the moral ground to speak though--who else spent two months being tortured in a slave pits to risk serving his city and his people?

Grigor Starag: Some folk call him an animatron, down in the taverns its a joke he's an unchanging machine. He's flesh and blood, but at heart this isn't a fabrication. Starag should do the city a favor and retire from politics, he's stagnant and unchanging. A relic from the past that Sanctuary needs to let go. In 150 years, we haven't found the surface, eliminated poverty and hunger, or made ourselves safe from our enemies. Starag represents every mistake made for fifteen decades--and remains firmly dedicated to seeing them continue unchanged.

Demetrius Bhast: Wealth, privalege and a willingness to share it--but not to let you forget he shared it. Bhast respresents the heights of what Sanctuary's citizens can obtain; and he's responsible for funding the House of Light. A temple dedicated to every god with the money to donate to its buildings, burned to the ground by the poor and dispossessed the temple claimed to serve. He'll serve the city as best he can, but Bhast has lost touch with the majority; the poor, the hungry.

Gaeseric the Unyielding: A warrior, a gladiator, and a strong man. Gaeseric isn't a politician, and this is his blessing and his curse. He'll tell you what he believes even when you don't want to hear it. He's not afraid of the future, and he's not afraid of making the changes Sanctuary needs to see. Mandarin Dreagle, even should he lose this election hopes Gaeseric wins our votes.

Adelia Tyrell: A scholar, a historian, and a lady. Tyrell is the spokeswoman of our people. Her first concern is justice, protecting people from government, and ensuring those who enforce our laws are the first to obey them. She is the truest champion of Sanctuary's government, and perhaps her only fault is that she is too good and far too humble to let Sanctuary know how much she has done for it. She too deserves the votes and the support of Sanctuary.

Ronus Graidan Who the hell is Graidan? All anyone knows for sure is that he thinks Sanctuary can keep hiding from the drow, and that freeing slaves is too dangerous. Half of us would still be in chains if Graidan's views were obeyed. He's like a child, trying to cower beneath a blanket for safety even after the monster's found him. The drow were at our walls, the heads of our friends were catapulted at us as weapons--Graidan is a traitor to everything the Bresley's founded here in Sanctuary. Rather than your votes, tar and feather him.

Victor Hastian You have to ask yourself, has Hastian done anything for Sanctuary since his election last year? Even though Ralix's latest clothing line paid for his election, we haven't even seen a new wardrobe come out of Ralix' shop; maybe like a Ghail Leather Shirt, Hastian is last year's vogue and its time for Sanctuary to get something new.

Ernestine Helthor I don't know about you, but I'd not vote for someone who hasn't even told us what he represents. The only thing known about Helthor is that we don't know anything about Helthor.

Gregor Toboerski He's rich, he owns a home. He lost last election, and what's changed this time? Gregor Toboerski doesn't have a voice that Sanctuary can even hear, and silently he'll not win your vote.

Morgan Maddocks If being a drunken whore with no understanding of politics was a qualifaction for election, our city would have been sold into slavery to the drow 150 years ago. Maddocks is a joke, and she has made a mockery of our intelligence, our city, and this election. While Starag represents all Sanctuary's mistakes, Maddocks represents the closing of the shakles around our feet--she won't just continue our old mistakes--she'll ruin this city and she's a convicted criminal. Do you trust your tax money in the hands of a theif?

Jarentiano Sterios The only way this man can win is if he animates in unholy rites the corpses of our loved ones to serve as his voters. Sanctuary can not fall so low as to allow black magicians to make our laws.

Robin Wildebrook Who? Why?

Mylin A loyal servant of the House of Light. Mylin is generous, kind hearted, and a pleasant young woman. What more can be said about her other than she is simply put not a politician and hasn't yet made her views known.

Genevis Ward The councilor who stood by our men and women at the Gate during the assault! I'm not sure I'm amazed by that, he stood there while you fought. He's a coward as we all saw down in the Pissing Crone when he refused to face me in the ring; it was Gaeseric who walked in there fearlessly to knock the tar out of me. A man who won't even stand up for himself won't stand up for Sanctuary either. As for a 'healer' of our economy, are you richer, better fed, or safer than you were before he was elected? Any man can trump his own horn, but to have actually done a damn thing while elected is something else.

These are your choices, if you haven't made the right choice for Sanctuary yet--and that is Mandarin U. Dreagle, these are the other options. Some better than others, some clearly are not worthy of service to this city.

The proclaimation is removed from the door of the Town Hall and moved to the public notice board, alongside all the other campaign flyers.
