A letter for Officer Barkely, at the Spellguard Tower

A letter written in an elegant handwriting.

Hammer the 29th, Year 151, 1373 of Dale Reckoning.

To the esteemed Officer Barkely,

it is with a great idea in mind, that I write to you this letter. I have a few suggestions, that may better how the Spellguard functions, and that will improve the control we have over the masses.

I have taken an interest in the various functions of Animatrons, and I notice they are very versitile. So versitile, even, that a bold idea may be incorperated into their design.

I understand Animatrons already possess the ability to teleport to their appointed master. As well, I have noticed, there are various objects that allow for the scrying of illegal magic, thus testifies that wonderful, newly-acquired pedestal in our fair tower. Also, certain Animatrons are capable of using forms of magic.

My idea is to combine these three features, and create Animatrons, capable of detecting illegal magic (i.e. magic in unwarded areas, not including magic used by those in warded Spellguard robes), teleporting themself instantaniously to said location, and use spells to nullify the magic cast on the target.

After such, our Agents may move in on that location, and arrest the violator, with less risk of magical opposition.

I would be very proud, if this idea is decided to be put into practice, to work on this project for the Spellguard.

Associate De la Rey,

I fear there are some substantial technical issues with your plan which you have overlooked, but I will forward it to our animatron specialists. Expect a response from Animator Dhimani shortly.

A reply is sent several days later.

Associate De la Rey,

Animatrons can only teleport to very specific targets -- namely Spellguard agents wearing robes and the appropriate objects. Teleportation within Dunwarren is really finicky at best: that's why we only teleport animatrons and criminals around. Warding animatrons to properly cast magic is a wholly bothersome and inefficient process that I'd like to avoid for most if at all possible -- certainly equipping animatrons with elaborate scrying mechanisms, warding them to be able to use magic, and hooking them into the Dunwarren teleportation mechanisms would be pretty excessive if we're going to use that complex and expensive apparatus to throw them unprotected right into obviously dangerous situations where they'd be surrounded by criminals and lacking a Spellguard operator. This idea sounds like another one I got about just having animatrons that blow themselves up. Animatrons aren't expendable.
