Faerun' Underdark Map
That's black. And small. Can you enlarge it? :P
That's out of the underdark source book, isn't it?
Nice if it was bigger ;)
Oh, like this? Even comes with the handy, highly-detailed surface map, too.
Nice.....
Thanks for the link!
:P
Thanks a lot. Too bad we can't see ourselves on this map, since we're not canon.
Well, yes, there was sort of a reason I didn't directly link the pictures. Meh...
While we're at it, can anyone point out Ellyn'Taal? I can't be bothered looking for it myself. 8)
:)
You know why there is no under dark under Thay? Because the Red Wizards don't WANT no damn under dark under Thay!
Sure there is Vesa, there is even a temple to Lloth there and a slave trade.
Vesa's word is law, putrid_plum. Adhere.
Unless I am interpreting the map wrong, and black parts are solid rock, then Thay has less under dark under it then most areas, it is almost entirley on solid rock.
The Peoples Empire of Thay-Built on a solid foundation!

I think the bordered parts are where there are actually caves and stuff. For instance, Old Shanatar stretches from Calimport to just north of Athkatla and as far east as the Snowlake Mountains. I figure there's solid rock outside the borders (Athaktla to the Trollbark Forest). If that's true, Thay does indeed have a local Underdark, albeit a fairly desolate one, seemingly; and judging by the names i'd say it's mostly inhabited by Illithids.
Don't call them squid faces, they are patriotic servants of the empire, continuing their fight against the opressive rashiman... who have.... fled underground.... for some reason... yeah.
GO THAY!
OOH LOOK A BUNNY!
FLUFFY BUNNY!
Vesa disturbs me at times.
MadCaddies Vesa disturbs me at times.
There are times when Vesa doesn't disturb me.
Me like bunny. Bunny nice.
So roughly where in the underdark realm is our PW here located? That would help to make it a bit more plausible as to where on the surface our characters are from, or were abducted.
The location in the Underdark is kept so vague intentionally.
If people knew exactly where in the Underdark they were, trying to find a way out wouldn't be nearly as exciting, would it?
Well, it could arguably be deduced that the majority of slaves that are brought in to this particular area/people who somehow manage to luckily make their way into this corner of the underdark would reflect the ethnicity of the general areas above us.
In other words, I'm guessing slavers would tend not to bring in a bunch of Maztican slaves. Etc.
Edit: How does 7 middle-dark cities under Thay qualify as "not a lot of underdark?"
As Sanctuary isn't canon they can't place it on the map. With that said, I've always imagined Sanctuary to be somewhere along the Sword Coast, and Coldburn told me some time ago that it was rumoured to be somewhere around Icewind Dale, I think.
I figured that the Darklake near Sanctuary was the Darklake that was in the lower dark in the vicinity of the Sword Coast...
The Dark Lake is very different from the Darklake. Unfortunately I named the Dark Lake before I was aware of the existence of the Darklake.
Sanctuary's location in relation to the surface world is deliberately kept vague for various reasons.

Meet me on IRC, you deserve a slapping.
Dalelands, my bad. Of course, I shall head there immediately and recieve my just punishment..
Yeah, your other brother Dale.
