I see this creeping up every now and then. I don't mind adding the odd message when its supposed to be veiwable. But I think its kinda silly to hear about it when somebody *walks by and says "wow that idea sucks"* Since how would I know that by reading the topic. it seems kinda pointless.
It would be nice if an official ruling was made on this.
I kinda feel if you wanna walk by and comment on it, it'd be best to do it ig. That being said it would be nice if people posted locations of where exactly they place things in order to accomadate this.
This way if you want to say something about it anonmously at least everyone hears it. If you don't want let evryone here it it'd be better not to post it on the public notices forum.
*walks by and kills people as they walk by commenting on posters*
XD
Edit: Oh and I put this under suggestions because its a suggested rule. It does look alot like a general discussion thing though :/

I don't see too much of a problem with hearing comments. If anything, the poster of the poster may be able to guage an OOC feel for the response to the poster, especially if it's something like an attempt to worship bane or something like that.
On the otherhand, defacing and modifying posters is another story. It's different if these actions are overseen in game by both parties or have some sort of DM approval, but I don't think "wipes rothe dung all over poster" "dirty poster is taken down and replaced" "wipes rothe dung all over new poster" "replaces poster" sequences are necessary, nor do they provide any immersion or fun roleplay from it.

I don't like getting an ooc feel for a response. If somebody wants to respond they should respond. It seems the same as saying the old *thinks to self "add insult here about somebody standing infront of you"*
Seems like a way to say what you want about anything with no ic conseqeunces.
Edit: Oh and when I say response I mean adding some kind of parchment with a message, maybe scribbling on an unused portion of the poster.

True, and that definately should be avoided in game as much as possible. The forums however, are much more OOC, as you can read notices in locations where you are not, letters not intended for you, and journals that might not even exist! :)

Yes but you can't make iccomments like *walks past as she's reading the letter and says* Bah he's an asshole don't trust him *walks off* for letters.
Also I don't leave messages for anyone concerning anything unless I've been to the place where its been posted after it has been posted. With the exception of places where I travel in and out of all the time. (like in and around lower sanctuary)

I second Naga.
Such comments add nothing to the use of the poster, and only make it more difficult to read what actually was said. Besides, when I refresh www.escapefromunderdark.com/forums, and I see a new topic/ reply, I need to read it. However, I don't like it when the topic/ reply adds zero things of interest. Like [Walks by the poster and laughs, and taking another bite from his Rothe Pastry]. It adds so little, if not nothing at all.

People can make comments or write up other notes, just avoid the situation where there are "tear down, post up, tear down, post up" wars.
