The gems on this quest in the sacrifice ground are marked stolen.

You can't sell them anywhere in game, to anyone. I'd suggest at least letting someone buy them since you can die trying to get them.

I'll rescind the suggestion if there is some in game use or merchant who buys them that we missed--but short of being a real bastard and trading them to a PC who thinks 'hey a diamond! Great that's worth 200 gold" when its really worthless-I can't think of a use.

They're not supposed to be accessible at all, actually.

Clearly more traps are needed.

Won't matter how many traps you put down, players will eventually figure out how to get them. I thought they were just a fitting bit of reward.

Pffft that was so easy. I must admit I was shitting myself for a few seconds beforehand though, as last time I stepped on that trap, it did 50+ damage each time I moved.

Those gems are pretty easy to get all you need is a spell.
