Creating Screenshots Posts

Hi There,

I have uploaded a few screenshots to ImageShack but require assistance witht he correct formating of a new post so that the images come up correctly.

If anyone can help with this that would be great - would also be good to have this information as a sticky at the top of the Screenshots forum.

Cheers

I concur! I'll sticky it if somebody can write up a good one.

EDIT: Unless my memory is deceiving me... has somebody already written something like this up? Bonus points if you can track that down so that I can sticky the existing post.

You generally have to use a art program to adjust it. I use photoshop, but everyone doesnt have that. PaintBucket would probably work, or anyother crappy art program windows gives you. Jpg or Gif formats are the general file type. In the case of Imageshack you have to use one of those I believe. Size the image to 600x800. That is a good size for forums so the image doesnt cause scrolling. If, at that size, it doesnt meet imageshack file size requirments, just make it smaller. If you already have images loaded to Imageshack but they are too big you can always use the thumbnail option. Imageshack will give you a page with all sorts of options. Do yourself a favor and set up a free photo directory. That way you can easily recall any images you have loaded. I only load from the personal directory. The verbage changes on the page you get when you initially load the image. The scripts look different too, that's why I load from the personal directory. There may be free versions of art programs out there that you could use for simple file manipulation.

Hi Hookswords,

Thanks but not quite what I am after - I have the screen shots touched up using XNView and Microsoft Office's Photo package.

The photos are loaded up to ImageShack.

What I need to know is when you create a new post in the Scrrenshots forum how you link the photo from ImageShack to forum post so thathe image displays.

Cheers

After the image is loaded, it should give you a page that show you the image. he image will appear as a thumbnail. Below that is a list of options. It gives you scripts that you can use for various things. They are even kind enough to break it down for different uses. I.E. link to friends, thumbnail for websie, image for forums, etc. Just copy the script for placing it in a forum, and paste that into a new topic page here. Preview it to make sure its working properly and bam! Screenshot goodness.

ok. So this is the screen you get when you first load an image

I dont like the options presented at this stage. Set up a "MyImages" account with them. They send you an email with a link to your personal page. On that page they provide better options. Here is an example of an image and options.

I circled with red the option you will want to copy. Paste that into a post here and you are good to go. When you view the post it will show the image, not the script you see when you are writing the post. Some sort of internet magic, I dont understand it, I just play by its rules...most of the time

Thankyou,

That was very useful and worked like a charm - I appreciate your help with this.

Cheers

I think this might be what you're looking for. If it turns out to be too vague (and it is kinda vague) I can probably find time to do something later today or tomorrow. It's not like I have a life anyways... :|
