This letter finds its way to the Watch House, addressed to Sergeant Everard. It smells of pipeweed and sweat.
Sergeant,
Sorry for the mistake on the front! My pen hand just went on without me! Anyway, down to business. I gathered some information on the theories behind the Appetite. Here it is!
Scribbled Appetite ReportSo, to get to the gritty part about the Appetite, I'll begin my listing my findings about the Machine itself, and the theories around it's beginnings!
Apparently, the design for the Machine were originally given to the Dunwarren gnomes, by a Surfacer. From these designs, they were able to begin their work on animatrons and other Dunwarren machines. The Machine, as it came to be known, grew and grew, beyond all original proportions. It expanded throughout Dunwarren, and the surrounding area. There were many interesting things in Dunwarren, that the gnomes had created. Machines to make other Machines, and all manner of odd things like that. Anyway. As the Machine grew, so did Dunwarren, the gnomes dug and expanded, and according to some sources, they dug too deep, and awaked something known as the Appetite. Although, other theories suggest that the Appetite came about, when the gnomes began fighting amongst themselves. The Appetite came into being, after being worshipped by the "Chosen" gnomes, who wanted to see the Machine destroyed. Apparently, according to some theories, the Appetite is just a face of Urdlen, the gnomish mole-God of Slaughter. Some theorise it was the Machine itself that caused this split between the gnomes, and it feeded off the blood spilt, or something. I don't know...
Incidently, the Appetite is a bottomless hole. Or, if it has a bottom, nobody has seen it, nor do they know what's down there. Maybe it's a big monster, a beholder, or some kind of evil God/Goddess.
Who knows! All that is known, is that the Drow, the Illithid (Intryzz) and a Lich (Okay, I didn't know what it was, but apparently it's a dead wizard) took a great interest in Dunwarren. So, whatever the Machine, or the Appetite is, it sure has some powerful fans!
So, here we are at the end... Maybe the Appetite is a creature, or something else (some say it's a portal), or maybe it's just a big hole. Either way, this begs the question... What's the Machine? Is it something to fight the Appetite, is it the Appetite itself, or is it a big lock to keep the Appetite in and locked up?
Thanks for reading!

So, read over that. Bye for now.
