Rebels, ask yourself;
Why are you fighting, who do you follow? Who are you fighting against, and why?
You claim to fight against the tyranny of the spellguard, yet you work among and for their pawns, willingly. You walk right into their hands, doing exactly as they plan.
Michael Bresley, Indira. Both of these 'important' figures of your rebellion both spent a great deal of time among the spellguard. The spellguard had ample time to turn these two into their pawns, and yet you blindly accept them.
Illithid are not the only ones who can control the mind, there are enchantments to affect the mind, which are quite within the ability of the spellguard. Those you follow, those alongside you; Many are pawns. Do you fight simply because of what they say? Because of who they are?
Consider not who they were because they are no longer the people you thought they were. They are puppets. Consider why you fight. Consider all the people who will die due to a fractured city. This is not solely the fault of the spellguard, both rebel and regime are responsible for this. Consider all your friends, your family.
They are all going to die.
Will you continue to fight? Will you condemn all those you ever knew, to a horrible life of slavery, or a gruesome death to the chosen, simply because you cannot see those you follow are just puppets in a larger scheme?
Consider it. The spellguard insisted to see Michael Bresley often to ensure his health. They are mages, not healers. What could they do, a preist or healer could not? Very little. They used the time to affect his mind with their spells, shaping him into a tool to be used on a whim.
Citizen Indira. Kept prisoner for nearly a week. All of the time they used warping her mind, and then she 'conveniently' escaped. The spellguard are ruthless, do you think sacrificing a high ranking officer to futher their goals, is really below them?
You are falling right into their hands, by fighting like this. Peices to the board moving blindly, their hands controlling both sides. If you truly wish to oppose them, you will cease your fighting. Cease following people like Michael Bresley, Indira, and any others the spellguard have had time to manipulate.
Stop dancing on their strings like puppets!
