A letter is folded up and tossed towards the rebels outside the Seeker Hall. It is addressed as above
My Old Friends,
This is the darkest day I have known since I came to this city. No doubt you have already read the notices I have put up. I also do not doubt you are as angry as I am.
I am angry to Overseer Sheps for ordering this. I am angry to Lt. Krown for telling me to do this or to leave this city as an enemy of Sanctuary.
Yet most of all, I am angry to YOU
This never would have happened if you had just remained loyal. If The Watch had remained strong, we would not need to bow down before these Drow and placate these demands. I stand against them, but I stand alone. I stand against them, and I fall. I know I am no good man. I know some things I do are not righteous or noble. Yet all I do I have done for good of this city. I swear this thing to you and to my God. You've left us to kill us one at a time in cowardly ways. You've left us and drawn power from this city because you see schemes where there are none.
You've left us and made us vulnerable.
I weep for the 50 people we are going to send into their arms. I have some honor in me, and some sense of right and wrong. Giving these people up is not a thing that feels right to me. For they are brave and good people to answer this call to begin with. I'd sooner see you all take their place, and yet I doubt you rebels have any courage or nobility in you. I am not going to let their sacrifice be in vain though.
You have 24 hours to convince your leaders to end this rebellion. You have 24 hours to give yourselves up, and to ask for what little mercy we have for you.
If you do not do this then I can only promise you that the gloves are off. This stalemate ends, and I will kill every last one of you. I will slaughter you all so that next time the Drow comes to our gates Sanctuary will stand unified against their threat. I will bring your Seeker hall down around your ears, and I will burn your hideouts within Lower in a conflagration of flame and vengeance. I am not giving up more brave men, nor will I be content watching more Watch brothers die because you foolish idiots want to see our city destroyed.
