Obligatory "What Games Are You Playing?" Thread

It's all in the title!

Fill this thread with your thoughts, impressions, etc on whatever games you're currently playing.

Right now, I'm playing Vampire: Bloodlines, an action RPG by the late, great Troika. Set in White Wolf's the World of Darkness, it offers an interesting and complex role playing experiance. With branching storylines, complex themes and no moral code forced upon the player it offers a unique playing experiance that hasn't really been matched since. I downloaded a fan patch that sorted out most of the (numerous) bugs and issues, which thankfully helps to make a brilliant but flawed game into a simply brilliant one.

Next up on my list is Arcanum (A steampunk RPG also by Troika), Planescape: Torment and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

What about you guys?

Fallout 2

And EfU, when I can and my internet is usable.

Heh ... I play nothing but EfU :P

(such an addict)

Wait, there are other games other than EFU?

Nothing but EFU. No other game or server can mach Efu in style story and RP.

Let's see. I'm playing some Greyhawk with my buds. Pencil and Paper Style. Pretty much doing whatever we want. Pretty good RP going.

And I'm DMing Dragonlance; The Key of Destiny and soon The Forlorn Spectre.

does this go just for RP games or any game? Like computer games?

i am currently playing paper mario for nintendo 64. it is a funtastic adventure full of doom and mush room

i also play team fortress 2 from time to time, there are a lot of guns and it's funny to kill people with them because everyone else does not act in a strategicly desirable way

i also plan to play diddy kong racing in the near future, it's a rip off of mario kart 64 in a way but it's still pretty fun

NWN is a good half of my game play.

But I also play 3.0 and 3.5 D&D because my friends have all the books they can get their dirt hands on. I use to play 2.0 because my big brother has all the books, somewhere. And I've yet to play 4.0 because no body I know has any of the books (and I'm too cheap to buy any of my own).

I play various games on the Wii (yes I sold my soul) because both the Wii and the games were gifts.

And on the side I am making my own pencil-&-paper Sci-Fi RPG with my friends. We've got most of it working so far and it's a blast making/testing a new game.

Have played Vampire Bloodlines two and a half times so far. I favour the beasty guys, but for the second run I went Malkavian.

Have recently finished Bioshock and Mass Effect!

I'm currently playing Star Wars Jedi Academy, and intend to play Crysis soon.

I was enraptured by Planescape:Torment, it has to be one of the best games I've had the pleasure of playing. It stands beside Baldur's Gate's II, and is arguably superior to it in terms of story and character development. The Nameless One :o

Diablo 2 LoD!

I'm currently trying to find a copy of Planescape: Torment, and I've just started playing Bioshock! The only other game I've played recently is rude. :(

I'm pretty sure it's abandonware now.

Ebay sell it, but it reaches a hefty premium. I found mine in a bargain bin for 50p. I believe Gametap has it in their catalogue, but that's a monthly subscription service, which isn't ideal. But yes, Nickless is correct. It's pretty much abandonware.

On computer games now.

I have played the masterfully well done Bioshock. Both endings.

Also recently finished an old game from 2000 called "American Mcgee's Alice" a mischivously disturbing twisted sequal to Alice in wonderland.

Playing some silly british game called Giants; Citizen Kabuto.

Also have played some good ol' Monkey Island. Favorite being the Curse of Monkey Island.

Recently powered through Diablo 1 and Fallout 1 (I like the first Fallout better tbh). Got my hands on Bad Mojo and Grim Fandango but haven't installed them yet but they're supposed to be the classics of linear puzzle adventures. Spent a week on Battlefield 2142. It was okay. Started playing the Broken Crescent mod for Medieval II: Total War again as Georgia (which has nothing to do with current events; they're just a challenging kingdom to play). I also bought the Kingdoms expansion so I could play some neat looking mods that'll come out in the future but found that the new campaigns are pleasantly interesting. Currently struggling with the Norwegians on a VH/VH Britannia campaign. Strategy games are addicting. Also working on a WHFB Bretonnian army.

When I get the time, I am trying to finish Half Life 2 Episode 2, and F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate. I have also installed Fallout and am trying it out for the first time but haven't got far - same with Oblivion (yes I know, I live a year or two behind everyone else)

I still play oblivion sometimes. and Half Life is awesome. They need to make that a movie. Except start with the second one and make freeman have flashbacks to what happened in the first one every once in a little while.

Why? The game's cinematic enough.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Civilization (PS2) are my two favorite fall backs when I get tired of my current enthrallment which is EfU.

- Call of Duty 4 - Supreme Commander - Open RPG with Maptool - Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 - Warcraft 3 - Vampire: The Masquerade - Trackmania Nations - Age of Conan

Thats about it, these days. I am jumping on the new Diablo and Starcraft when they are released.

i play other than EFU umm street D&D and msn D&D

Just EFU.

City of Heroes/Villains, and Zelda: Twilight Princess. Disgaea 2 should be arriving soon, though. :o~

DIABLO 2!!!!!111one.

Computer Games: Hellgate London, NWN 1&2, EFU, Diablo 2, Beowulf, 007 Nightfire, Icewind Dale 1&2, Bauldur's Gate, Yugioh Power of Chaos, CSI 1&2.

PS2: Legacy of Kain 1-5, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil 4, Enter the Matrix, Path of Neo, Star Wars Battlefront 1&2, Star Wars Episode III, Yugioh Capsule Monster Coliseum, Forbidden Memories and Duelist of the Rose (and yes the Card game too!), Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath & Return to Arms, Socom US Navy Seals 1&2, Bard's Tale, Batman Rise of Sin Tzu, Xmen Legends 1&2, Van Helsing, and a bunch more that are just once in a while! (IE: too many to bloody list!!!)

Still want to get: Vampire: Bloodlines, Diablo III, Escape from Butcher Bay, Halo 1-3, Star Wars: Force Unleased, The Watcher.

Why? The game's cinematic enough.

That's very true. But a half life movie would be cool to see. For those who have time for movies but not games.. dunno. It'd be cool to bring a girl to. Perfect scary movie without being at all cheesy.. and I'd prefer it to dragging her in front of my computer screen... :P

Oh... they could make the movie cheesy enough in the right hands.

*coughs* Doom movie *coughs*

LOL. too true. that'd be the only reason why I wouldn't want them to make a movie. It could very well be crap. Ah well, better back off before we get off topic.

A Uwe Boll helmed HL2 movie would be increadible.

City of Heroes mostly, but I may play a bit of Guild Wars or Age of Mythology.

Halo 3, Rock Band, Army of Two and er..

World of Warcraft

Age of Conan, Final Fantasy Tactics, Call of Duty 4, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and NWN EFU (haven't found any singleplayer mods lately that interest me so MP exclusive at the moment)

Just added Freespace 2 and Beyond the Red Line (mod for Freespace 2) to my regular gaming list. Also decided to pick up playing Go again.

Most recently bought Indigo Prophecy (Farenheit) for $20 online. Finished it over a weekend. Great while it lasted. Abandonware, as you guys are calling it.

But EfU is endless, nameless.

Planescape: Torment has an epic narrative. Loved Dak'kon.

This music from Planescape reminds me of the soundtrack to the '80's film, Conan the Barbarian.

I enjoyed Farenheit, although the story got really odd towards the end. It was an admirable foray into a new gaming style, and utterly enjoyable. I could not but help the two parts were designed by a completely diffferant writer. The save company are currently developing a game called Heavy Rain which looks to be in the same vein, although it is only for Playstation 3 right now. Hopefully it'll recieve a PC release a year or so afterwards.

Currently playing: Battlefield: Bad Company Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: Grimoire of The Rift Castle Crashers Braid Grand Theft Auto 4 Multiplayer

I went back in time to 1997 and picked up the Orange Box, to finally thrash through HL2 et al. It was great.

now playing an old school gurps style RP called Traveller.

It's set in the future and pretty cool.

I'm a space pirate.

Traveller is a fantastic game/setting, though the GURPS version is only one alternative (and somewhat controversial being so different to the original classic rules). Classic Traveller was the first role playing game I ever played. 8)

For those that don't know Traveller, imagine a rich setting set five thousand years in the future where humans control the largest known empire in the galaxy, over 11000 worlds. It's surrounded on all sides by other empires, some human and some not. The current empire is 1100 years old and is quite detailed and interesting after 30 odd years of development.

Oh, and now I'm looking at the new Mongoose rules and must say I'm pretty impressed. The torch has been passed on and is going well from the looks of it.

Final Fantasy 8 has made a re-appearance into my gaming routine! :o

Dan, yeah I had the same feeling towards the end of Farenheit - it went from subtle mystery with hints of what was to to come.. to a faded limp-apocalyptic dreamscape. I had cramp in my hands for two days rote-learning and spamming the controls for that scene when the Oracle visits the protagonist in his apartment - the windstorm was nuts.

Traveller! I bought a players handbook of that setting but never pursued it, because of my obession with writing D&D mods on paper when I was supposed to be studying for exams. Sadly, a few years ago, someone convinced me D&D was evil and I burned many of my rare paper modules, maps and art :( Work of Cyric, I believe.

Traveller is what I hoped Eve Online would be like. The graphics are amazing - but once I realised Eve was basically a first person shooter game in a space-ship, I lost interest. You see, I love Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy because of the adventure gameplay, force powers, lightsaber use...

Interesting how we all have our own preferred gaming experiences.

As I guess many of you know, some gamers who dont have much regular gaming time will pay e-cash for lvl 40 characters (who wish to enjoy playing and levelling) on City of Heroes.. or lvl 50+ WoW characters,, so they can have a high powered gaming experience.

The same kind of 'power levelling for cool gaming experiences' ideology cannot be applied so easily to EfU; because you cannot buy the kind of personal and unique experience EfU offers. A level 2 relatively new character/player who role plays and immerses themselves can have an equally amazing 'real-time' experience compared to the level 7 who also immerses. Such a rare balance to allow nearly the same experience for new and old characters.

XBOX 360:

Assassin's Creed Halo 3

PSP:

Final Fantasy 1 & Crisis Core God of War

Umm, yeah that's it.

There are games other than EfU?

I miss Cashman, on the Tandy Color Computer. Really!

Final Fantasy Tactics Island of Elysium II Astro Empires (epsilon E60) Starcraft, singleplayer, the bloodwars.
