The following was carved into the wall of the first capital cell within the bowels of the Watch House. Like most of the blood that's spattered around the dank, oppressively dark room, it's quite new:

If you think that it is unjust to murder a man for attempting to preserve democracy, uproot fascism, and do all he can to ensure that his friends and family may live in simple dignity, do what must be done.
