New Sanctuary Town Laws

By the decree of Commander Simms and Sheriff Sheps

All previous Sanctuary laws are hereby dissolved.

In their place, the Commander and Sheriff have put a new set of laws, which are effective as of immediately. They are as follows:

  • In the event of the death of the Sheriff, the collective Watch will elect a new Sheriff. In the event of the death of the Spellguard Commander, the collective Spellguard will elect a new Commander.
  • The three degrees of crime are Minor, Serious and Capital.
  • All capital criminals will be judged in trial by an available Spellguard Agent. If no Spellguard Agent can be made available, the trial will be conducted by the highest ranking Watchman available.
    • Trials must either occur in the Watch House or Spellguard Tower.
    • The Sheriff or Spellguard Commander reserve the right to veto any decisions made in this manner.
    • Fair judgments against any Capital criminal include but are not restricted to:
      • Stoning
      • Private Execution
      • Stripping of all possessions
      • Exile from the confines of Sanctuary
      • Animation from the dead
  • Attempted, plotted or effected murder of non-Sanctuary enemies - Capital Crime
  • Kidnapping by a non-Watchman, non-Agent - Serious crime
  • Kidnapping of a city employee by a non-Watchman, non-Agent - Capital Crime
  • Disobedience against a verified Watchman in response to reasonable orders - Minor Crime
  • Disobedience to a verified Agent of the Spellguard in response to reasonable orders - Serious crime
  • Disobedience to the Sheriff or Spellguard Commander - Capital Crime
  • Attempted, plotted or effected Blackmail of non-Sanctuary enemies - Serious Crime
  • Attempted, plotted or effected Blackmail of a city employee - Capital Crime
  • Treason (the act of working against the establishment of the city of Sanctuary or consorting with Sanctuary's enemies) - Capital Crime
  • Prior to all business transactions, all parties must show their Citizen Stones to the other parties. Failure to do so - Minor Crime
  • Fraud - Serious Crime
  • Knowingly assisting, protecting or doing business with enemies of Sanctuary - Capital Crime
  • Theft - Serious to Capital Crime
  • Assault - Serious Crime
  • Assault against any city employee - Serious to Capital Crime
  • Sabotage - Serious to Capital Crime
  • Sustained Criminal Behavior - Capital Crime
  • Unregistered Spellcasting - Minor to Serious Crime
  • Casting outside of Spellguard-Warded buildings - Minor to Serious Crime
  • Impersonating a city employee - Capital Crime
  • Crafting magical items without registering with the Spellguard - Serious Crime
  • Purchasing crafted magical items from an unregistered crafter - Serious Crime
