Dear Spellguard agent who reads this letter,
I have noticed in the past week that a draft has been put into order. I feel this draft necessary for our safety even if we must now force many of us to fight, but if things continue in this manner they will only end up fighting sooner and more well prepared then they would have with out the draft. However, I wonder how many of those drafted have the power of sorcery with in their blood and it goes undetected? I believe that if the Spellguard were willing you could develop a means of detecting a sorcerer and then have them train their magical talents instead of their martial skills.
Now, many of you may think that a sorcerer is uncontrollable, wild, and destructive. But, this means that it is all the more important to keep a close eye on sorcerers. Better give them a sense of duty and self-control then let them wonder our streets with not even the slightest restraint of their magic. This would give you the chance to better understand the control of magic and its users, and perhaps give you an unexpected insight into magic.
But, many of you feel that sorcerers are not worthy of the title Spellguard Agent. That one must work hard and focused, that this title only becomes fitting for those of intellect, not good looks, and charm. Let me assure you that sorcerers do in fact work very hard, but I suppose hard work is not enough. Maybe sorcerers could become their own rank. And should trouble arise that requires more force then thought why send the brains of the operation into danger when a mage who knows less spells but can use them far more often could risk his neck instead?
I do not know though if the Spellguard posses the ability to detect sorcery in a person yet. If not I would be more then willing to assist in this matter. I myself am a sorcerer and know what I am talking about when I speak of sorcery. I would willingly offer myself to use for experiments in this procedure, if you approve of such a plan.
If you wish to contact me, I currently live at the Stand. I look forward to your response.

[Unsure if the letter was even noticed the first time Jack sends another copy of the same letter.]

Citizen Jack Klenner,
Last Stand Inn,
11th of Mirtul, Year 153
The Order thanks you for your letter. I will do my best to answer all of your questions in as satisfactionary manner as possible and I hope this eases your concerns. Discovering sorcery within the blood of an individual is not something I have either researched or experienced, yet it is a simple way of discovering aptitude for magic. Either the individual is able to form spells, whether it is through study or innate talents, or not. Should the individual possess sorcery within his blood and it has not yet developed into something beneficial, I dare write that he may be better off studying martial skills than relying on talents that have yet to show themselves. It is the individual in question who must choose his path, although having trained for martial combat is highly beneficial either way he chooses. I see no reason why the Order should spend time to develop a means to discover sorcery within a person when it is better for them to discover it themselves, which I hope you agree with me on.
We have no presumptions that sorcerers or sorceresses are uncontrollable, wild or destructive; it it the individual who is responsible who may be. No matter if it is a wizard or a sorcerer, we do keep our eyes out for them in case they show an unfortunate way of behaving with this power and act if necessary.
Do not for a moment think we will not let sorcerers or sorceresses be honored with the title of Spellguard Agent. Our own previous Commander and Founder, Melinda Serena Bresley, was a highly talented sorceress. We do have restrictions on who we are letting in, because we are the elite order of mages here in Sanctuary; only the very best or the very talented are inducted. In our field of work, having a knack for the intellectual and being strong of mind are highly requested. Being good looking and possessing a strong sense of self are not flaws in themselves, but without the backing of a strong mind the individual may not possess the required talents that we seek. Regarding your prospective tactic, when duties call us to get into the field it will be better to have someone capable of finding solutions to difficulties arising than one who is merely there for his spells. Wands are made for a reason. No matter if it is a wizard or a sorcerer, it does not matter who risks his neck as long as the individual possess the means to keep it. The right men or women for the task will always be sent.
By all means, if you wish to seek those with innate talents for magic, do so. Get them registered with us and teach them if you so wish it.
Always remember to be mindful about your magic. If you have not registered yourself either as a crafter or a caster, come to the Serena Tower and we will get it done.
Agent Cain,
Order of the Spellguard

Well I'm glad to see that my view of the Spellguard was wrong. I had previously spoken to one of your agents about this idea and said agent thought little of sorcercers. The agent also thought little of many other things but I think that is best not talked or read about again.
Thank you for taking your time to respond to my letter none the less, I'm sure you've been busy lately. Perhaps some time we could speak of this later.
One a side note I am registered as a spellcaster, but I have yet to register for crafting potions. I do not currently have the supplies to make/sell potions but I look forward to taking the trip over and getting registered.
Please take care untill then,
Jack Klenner
