Transmutation spells are those that alter the world in some way, be it as subtle as increasing ones intelect or srength of as substantial as changeing ones body into that of anothers. The meer idea of transmutation creates thousens of possable uses but all come down to the base idea that transmutation can be used to better ones self in almost any aspect, and that is why transmutation is of use. The uses of transmutation spells number from aiding wizards in their studys and warriors in their craft to helping add the advantage of living siege weapons to a battle. My personal studys have included the reading and practice of baisic transmutation spells, such as bulls strength of cats grace, and of the futher reading of more advanced "Polymorping" spells.
