[These are mostly found in Lower, though some are nailed up in areas of Upper with no Watchmen standing guard.]
Citizens of Sanctuary, Tarsakh 26, Y153Many of you may be wondering what the point of our Rebellion is. Why do we fight, what do we want to achieve? We fight because Werner Sheps is a corrupt rat, a traitor to Sanctuary. At least one high-ranking member of the Order of the Spellguard aided Werner Sheps in the enthrallment and murder of numerous Watchmen, including the true Sheriff, Azrus Azzam himself. Take this example.
Sergeant Leonard Timmons, now a wanted man, filed a report detailing the disappearance of two Watchmen, one a Corporal and the other a Private. A child approached the Third Barrack in the Spellguard Zone and asked to be walked back to his home. The Private said that he would escort him back. After a time, a female elf approached the Barrack and reported that the Private and the child had been mugged on the way to the child's home. The Corporal, Corporal Marcie, went to investigate. He didn't return. A female Spellguard Agent, Agent Symbaern, went to the Third Barrack and told the engineer there that she'd gotten a report of missing Watchmen. She went to investigate. However, the engineer swore that this woman was just the same as the one who'd reported that the Private and the child had been mugged. The Agent, however, mysteriously did not find the child or either Watchman. A patrol that went out later that day found a house with signs of a struggle and blood on the ground. Two days later, the Private and Corporal Marcie returned, saying that they'd chased the mugger out into the wilds and came back around into town.
Now, perhaps this seems like it could be innocuous. However, only ten days later, both Corporal Marcie and the Private were two of the first names to appear on the enthralled Watchman list.
Sheps, however, found out that some of the Watchmen had made this link and burned it while he was still a Lieutenant to hide evidence of his corruption.
I was one of the men to battle through the lair of Phandiates, under the Residential District, and slaughter the creature. I've also read reports in the Watch records of Phandiates cooperating with the Spellguard, a few months ago, for experimentation purposes. It seems that, now, they've cooperated with Phandiates to place their own puppet in the Watch.
People of Sanctuary, the Office of Sheriff has not been filled. A pretender sits in Azzam's seat and dances to the tune of the Spellguard. He's put gold on our heads; ten-thousand gold for one of the best men that Sanctuary has, our best chance to be saved from the betrayer, Sheps.
Take my words into mind and consider them carefully. Don't accept a treasonous traitor as the defender of your homes and children. When the day comes for blood to be spilled, think of who you will support and, perhaps, what side you'll take; that of a man who would deal with abberrations for power, or that of a man who, despite being exiled and maligned by the False Watch, continues to fight so that you can have safe Sanctuary for you and your children, for years to come.
I would be interested to see what our Councillors and prospective Councillors, as well as all other citizens of Sanctuary, make of this information.
