Evaristus d'Allemagne for the Council.

People of Sanctuary, most of you have not heard of me due to the fact that I have not been here for long, my name is Evaristus d'Allemagne and I am a Priest of the Lord Ilmater, my short time here should not prevent me from aiding the people of Sanctuary and thus is why I am running; to strengthen this city and rid it of all sorts of corruption, so that the people may live a life free of suffering.

In my time here I have been greatly disturbed by the amount of internal feud, corruption and discord in Sanctuary, I must state that such must be thrown aside if this city is to be restored to its former glory as a bastion of freedom and safety in the Underdark.

Sanctuary must stand strong and fight for the ideals it was founded on, we must not allow our enemies to blackmail us or demand anything from us, to do so is to do no different than accepting slavery and bowing down to tyranny; both vile concepts that we have fought against since the founding of this city.

Meanwhile, we must master the art of war and defend ourselves because the truth is we cannot depend on any other force here for aid, especially not those like the Shadow Tribe and their dragon master; Etorix, to do so is to be defeated and we ought to strengthen our society and turn it into one that holds moral righteousness, ethical codes and a sense of freedom highly.

Countless times has the Council and those who claimed to protect this city compromise on the ideals that Sanctuary was founded on and bowed down to the demands of our foes and we have not grown stronger due to this, in fact we are only becoming weaker and the path we are on only becomes darker, I do believe now is the time to change the course of this city and strive to walk a greater path.

The following words is of my policies, plans and views if I am elected as Councilor.

• The Watch and our defenses The Watch is the most crucial part of our defenses and this is why as Councilor, I will greatly support the Watch and work towards strengthening it, in this trying time it greatly needs more members and assistance. I propose a higher budget for the Watch and a conscription plan which will include compulsory military service, though I would prefer to push for a strictly voluntary military training program.

• The Society of the Ordered Mind With the recent problems with aberrations and thralls, I do believe the Society ought to have a more official role in combating such threats. We should not view them suspiciously, but instead offer them support, I propose offering them financial support and perhaps more.

• The Shadow Tribe and Etorix I truly find the relationship between Etorix and Sanctuary to be utterly preposterous, it is obvious that we are being blackmailed to meet its demands, even though it has once even demanded that we act against our own citizens. This cannot be allowed to stand, we should not compromise anything further, but instead stand firm, we ought to set aside our fears and seek a better alternative, we must be independent for all other forces here are against us and our ideals, thus they cannot be trusted.

• The Spellguard The Order of the Spellguard has been a suspicious and secretive group, too much for our own good I would say and the truth is that their true loyalty should be questioned, they may claim to have our safety in mind, but yet they have even separated from our city before and even now they tell us to continue bowing down to Etorix. As Councilor I will show no support to them and will propose that we create laws that will force them to become much more transparent in their actions.

• Unity of Sanctuary I firmly believe that to thrive and survive here in the Underdark, we must stand united and turn our city into a bastion of freedom and moral righteousness, however unity must not be twisted into compromising on our ideals and working to please our foes and those who are obviously treacherous.
