People find them, and run from them. They follow the PC, and kill literally every NPC in the area. This is dumb, because every reset they are back again after being mauled. Please get rid of these spawns, or kill off the NPCs permanently, which is probably not desirable.

Or, possibly better idea, have some capable NPC's take Sentry's postings and offer to do guard duty at the areas where the Choosen could run in, and make them strong enough (I'd say Watch Private or Corpral strength), this should deal with the problem, I hope.
Or even better have them run back to their original spots after they go past a certain point.
With all the respect that Cruzel & the DMs deserve, I'd have to say that while the idea of chosen killing all the NPCs is kinda silly at some points. (I came across a chosen warrior duking it out with one of the Male Armor Crafting Figurines in the canals.) It does make it up with the fact that it makes the threat of the chosen a -lot- more real..
I'd suggest that the random spawning stops, but the DMs provide and monitor a chosen attack every now and then. It'd be a tad higher in maintenance, but it would probably be more realistic.

"Sentry" is a pseudonym used by one of my characters in posters. His plan is to get together a bunch of Lower people with silver and magic and beat the Chosen out of the streets. So far though, he's only got a few PCs interested.

If the DMs would have some NPCs reply to that, then it'd be great. There could be a couple with silvered spears holding a barricade, and it'd be a neat sign of activity to help recruit PCs. I've got a half-dozen silver darts I could donate to Harrison to have a couple of silver speartips made.
PCs alone can't deal with this. Unless you carry silver or Magic Weapon charms, or you have a rogue to flank and sneak the Chosen, all that happens is some fool manages to get all the questgivers slaughtered avery 2 days or so.
I think the minimum requirement is a a sign saying "WARNING! CHOSEN OPERATING BEYOND THIS POINT. GO NO FURTHER". I'll even RP hammering it in if the DMs want.
There's plenty of in-character warning. Those Chosen are there to be dealt with by PCs.
The problem, Winston Martin, is that most of the people who end up finding the Chosen are new to the server or playing characters who have no way to defend themselves. This constantly leads to quest givers like Mary and Ms.Cole getting killed.
I think the worst I saw was either the Chosen that ended up outside the Crone or the one right on the door of the Market. All I could do on the char I was on was to lead them out to the canal and stealth away.
The other big problem is that Billy Brassgut's quest is a L2-4 quest that forces you to fight or avoid an Aggressive Chosen Warrior to reach the QA. So, a common occurence seems to be: New char takes quest, New char encounters Chosen, New char gets beat up, flees, leads it into Lower.
The first time I did that quest after the invasion, we were lucky, as I had a charged dagger and the other guy was a rogue, so we managed to kill it.
If you can't fight them, run! Chosen are scary. If they are blocking you from something you need to get to, find some friends to beat them up. You could even sneak around them or find an alternate route. Be creative! You are not obligated to plow through every red glowing npc in the module.

Chars that can't fight them, but lead them into the NPCs that can't fight them either, with the result that you rarely get to do any of the non-tunnels Lower quests because the NPCs are dead. Yes, they should be a threat to low levels, but they shouldn't be blocking half the Lower Quests like this. An obstacle, yes, that I understand. But they go beyond that to "metagame this or the whole of lower gets wiped out again"
Having a guard post in that alley, or having the Chosen just defend that area tooth and claw would be fine. As it is though, all you can tell IC is "there are likely Chosen around". Without a stealth char, you'll get their attention, run, and bang, there goes Portal to the Surface and Rat House again.
I for one believe that Mrs. Cole would be very happy to kill ratmen running around Lower. She even has her own sword that seems to kill them in a few hits!
I actually do remember coming to lower to see a bunch of NPCs dead in a pile, and Mrs. Cole in the middle of them, barely injured, and a shortsword out...
Another idea would be to make the chosen spawns, (and ONLY the chosen SPAWNS.) easier to get killed.
The loitering lowersman that hangs by wallys place is bloody lethal, if you need more than him, I don't know what to suggest.
Also for NPC's getting motivated to guard where the chosen are coming from. That'll be a Persue IG thing.
The loitering lowersman by Wally's is now a corpse much like Wally himself.

Im often against locking threads but this thread is totally pointless and needs to get locked pronto. Before it gets so off topic we forgot what it was about.
I think current IG events reflect that the DMs took this suggestion to heart.
