Hi I used to hang out alot on Wheel of time servers on Roleplay section then I just did some looking and found this place seems pretty cool. However I am wondering who came up with all this and is this based off some book I should read? Thank you!

Helo........?
If you came to this server knowing shit abuot the Forgotten Realms, then we got something in common!
WELCOME AND DIE!
Hi!
Sanctuary's not canon, in that Howland concepted it and built it with the help of the DMs from scratch, although there's a lot on the Underdark in general FR books! And the Underdark sourcebook. :O
Welcome to the Underdark!
As usual, I get to beat Thomas at Newbie by coming in to this having never played multiplayer NwN or DnD before :P.
EfU is a completely unique server, with more depth than I've ever seen in any book I've ever read. The scope is relatively smaller than say, Lord of the Rings, but it's got so many mysteries, battling factions, interesting personas, and various themes that make it a robust place packed with intrigue and things to do.
While not based on anything, however, EfU is heavily influenced by concepts from HP Lovecraft and George RR Martin's writings. And while it has little, if anything to do with the server, the A Song of Ice and Fire series (by George RR Martin) is excellent, and suggested reading for everyone looking for a refreshingly dark fantasy novel.
welcome friend! welcome to the moust backstabbing evil curropted battle waging propaganda lieing server game there is and gess what? your going to love it as i know i do
Greetings and welcome to the Darkness. EFU is as deadly as the Underdark tales it is related too. Besides the Forgotten Realms Source book and Underdark Source book.
There is also: City of the Spider Queen, Drow of the Underdark and Shadowdale books as well in the D&D manuals.
Also you may want to get your hands on the War of the Spider Queen series, Starlight and Shadows series (by Elaine Cunningham) and of course the Avatar (aka: The Time of Troubles) Series. Not counting the LONG list of books about Drizzt by R.A. Salvator.
Welcome to the Underdark.
Welcome to EFU
You needn't buy any of these books mentioned, though you're perfectly entitled to, as EfU is a unique part of the Underdark, where some things work differently, not to mention most of the information about the setting is here on the forums, from deities to Underdark flora. I'd also recommend taking some time out to read the various FAQs and class guides, they will really help you out.
Good to see there's still new players making their way to EfU.
Gosh alot of people here must be payed to advertise for wizards of the coast.
Heh, there's a lot of FR love here. It's all in good fun though.
Welcome to the Underdark. Keep your friends close, and never, ever trust a drow.
Spoiling people's Alts publically is very uncool, Thomas.
Be ashamed.
That doesn't wash, sorry. If someone is using an alternate unknown account, then by default they are not wanting it advertised publicly. He never had to make a request, ffs.
Very uncool, Thomas.
i think that revealing someone else's secret account is a bannable offense? or banana offense
also deputy cool should be banned twice im pretty sure
derflaro and DrD is the same person.
I truly, truly, detest secret accounts. It's one of my all time loathings. I feel it's a way for people to hide from previous prejudices instead of trying to change it.
My stance stands. I will be a whistle blower unless you specifically tell me. (OR DM's threaten to ban me)
Howland Choosing to spread the knowledge of anyone's [secret] identity in EfU (or status, such as whether they're played by a DM) should be considered a potentially bannable offense.
Thomas, I've used secret accounts for a couple of controversial bits when I didn't want to tip anyone off OOC. Pretty much every assassin on the server lately's used them for the same reason. Especially with the influx of new guys, it's a good precaution to take to avoid spoilers.
This seems finished!
