The Dur'Thraenir (Twilight Chasers) of Silverymoon
By: Vestilan Dur'Thraen
Founded in 637 DR, Silverymoon would become one of the greatest and most wondrous cities of the north as it was a beacon of harmony between civilization and nature.
As the city grew, so did its need for a capable defensive organization. Thus, the Knights in Silver were formed and put into service as guardians of the city and as well as an expeditionary force to deal with the multitude of threats inhabiting the mountains, plains, moorlands, and forests that surrounded Silverymoon.
At the creation of the Knights in Silver, two elf siblings--a brother and sister--were quick to enlist as they saw Silverymoon as true, good society which should be defended.
Together, the two elves played a valuable role in defending Silverymoon on their patrols throughout the Silver Marches. They battled orcs and gnolls in the harsh mountains; they battled trolls and giants within the soggy moorlands; they battled lycanthropes within the dark forests. Together, the two elves were great defenders of Silverymoon and kept it safe.
Together, the two elves also shared a specific patrol for a great majority of their career. With their detachment of mounted soldiers, the two elves would begin their final patrol at the most eastern point outside the city.
As the sun began to set on the horizon, the group of soldiers would face west towards the lowering sun. Once the sun disappeared, the land covered in shadows, but the sky still an orange-pink, the soldiers began their march in two groups.
The brother, leading half of the soldiers on this final patrol of the day, would head north-west along the city. The sister, leading the other half of the soldiers, turned and began moving south-west. Together but apart, the two elves followed separate paths that would encircle Silverymoon.
For both siblings, the orange-pink sky of twilight lead them west and remained constantly in their sight as they did so. Together, the elven siblings chased twilight. Once they both converged and arrived at the western most point outside of Silverymoon's walls, they--along with the soldiers they lead--allowed twilight to flee ahead of them. The orange-pink of the sky disappeared to be followed by the dark blue of the night sky.
With the end of the day also came the end of the siblings' duties for the cycle. Another compliment of Knights in Silver arrived and the Twilight Chasers were relieved of their duty till the next day.
