I thought it'd be you determined to poke holes in my little suggestion, after our chat about that in the past. Glad you were polite about it though, rather than resorting to the cheap personal gibes there's too many of around here.
Personally, I'm certain that a tax that only serves to drive trade away from the Market is of little use. That said, I can see the point in keeping sellers from shouting their wares all over the place.
Perhaps we could find some common ground in instead asking for a commitment to set up more stalls for rent in the market? The city gets a share of the rent as tax, and the market becomes grounds for more than just one itinerant trader to sell at.
Oh, and another thing. For all your straight-backed stand for law and authority, I can see a little bardic freedom in you. Don't say you don't like a good show, I can tell. Only an true entertainer can work one of those magic horns I've seen you blast fugitives with. What would you say to setting up a debate on this and a few other things with all the candidates? Have a chance to show up my theory, or get some feelings out of these potential politicians?
